Hello everyone, I am currently in the Air Force but am eligible for retirement. My fianc e and I are still awaiting NOA2. I m curious as to when is the better time to retire or will it matter? She is concerned that retiring while applying for AOS will cause problems. I could retire before she comes or around the time she comes or even wait till after AOS is approved. I d rather not wait that long to retire and start a new career.

Hey all, Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. A couple of weeks ago we received an RFE. The letter we received stated exactly what they said they already had and not to resend those documents. We had sent a cover letter listing everything that was in the packet. We also had copies of everything we sent so I m not worried about producing the evidence again. The one missing document that was most notable was my son s birth certificate. It s very frustrating to think that someone is mishandling these documents and many of them I would consider sensitive . I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs and we have to be extremely protective with personal information! I know all government offices have a Privacy Officers that you can report issues like this to. But I feel it s a he said she said thing and nothing would ever become of it. It s just very concerning. Ok, I ve vented! Thanks for listening.

Hi everyone, My wife and I got married a few days ago. She has a SSN already (she worked in US a few years ago). We are trying to figure out if we should contact SSA to update her last name (my last name) on her SSN or if it's ok to just wait for the EAD to be approved? I'm not sure if it will affect anything (Health insurance, credit card applications, taxes, etc) if we don't update her new last name immediately on her SSN. To be clear, we are about to file for AOS/EAD and she is currently on her tourist visa. Thanks!

Out of boredom I decided to dig through TVJ timeline data to see if I could find a shred of encouraging data for all K1s waiting for their NOA2. Although the timeline data we have on this forum is but a small percentage of the total number of K1 applications, we can see there is a very clear drop off in K1 applications from April onward (most certainly due to the pandemic). This offers encouragement that once USCIS works through March, we will see the pace start to pick up.
