Questions about time it takes to get Visa after approval

Hello everyone. I had a few questions and also seeking some opinions about my situation.

My Fiancee has an interview for her K1 Visa mid September. I was planning a trip to go see her so I could be there for her interview as well as having her come back with me if all goes well.

I wanted to know the average timeline for getting a Visa after interview.

The problem I'm having though is my work won't let me take time off to go.

If she gets approved or not I still want to go visit her, as its been over a year since seeing her last, and if she is approved I do not want her to come alone either.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello everyone,

Quick background:

I am a USC, my partner is Burmese. We met in Thailand in 2022. She moved to Thailand looking for employment, and I was there taking a TEFL course to potentially teach English abroad (I sold my business in 2016 and took a sabbatical in November 2020 so I am technically "retired early"). I proposed in January and we had a ceremony in Myanmar February 28, 2023, but we never signed any documents to make the marriage official because we intended to file for the K1 and we want to do everything by the book. The ceremony was mainly for her friends and family to celebrate our union. We have a condo in Thailand in her name because she is here on an 11 month ED visa. I have lived in Thailand with her since January, but I am here on a tourist visa. My permanent residence is still in the US.

We hired an immigration attorney in March to help us file the 129F, gathered all our supporting docs and he filed in late April. We received receipt confirmation a couple weeks later (May 12, 2023), and now we are digging in for the long journey ahead. Living with my partner has been a blessing that I know most couples in the K1 queue don't have the privilege of enjoying; however we share the same desire as everyone here and that is to be together in the US ASAP so we can start building some permanency into our lives. It seems the more we review our options, the more questions we have. We realize that every case is different and there are many variables to consider with every question.

- Her ED visa expires in October. Should we pack up and move to Myanmar so she can spend time with her family the next few months while we wait? Will moving to a new country delay the process? Would getting an appointment at US embassy in Yangon potentially be faster than getting an appointment in Bangkok which has a larger case load?

We are simply looking for anyone with experience at either of these two embassies or any tidbits of advice anyone is willing to toss our direction. Every decision we make is driven by the question everyone has: "will this speed up or slow down the process?". We realize that the answer to the question of move or not move is a personal decision, but we are trying to gather as much information as we can to make as educated a decision as possible.

K1 Visa previous deportation from Korea

I am a petitioner for my fiance's K1 Visa from Thailand. We recently received NOA2 and i am waiting for our case number from NVC. My biggest concern is that my. fiance was previously deported from South Korea for overstaying her visa and she is blacklisted permanently from Korea. I consulted with a Visa agency in Thailand and they informed me that while a deportation is not a crime of moral turpitude, it does show a tendency to not follow laws and regulations and could result in a visa denial. I had hoped that since the K1 visa shows immigrant intent, a previous immigration violation in Korea wouldn't matter. Has anyone encountered a similar situation? Any advice would be much appreciated

I started a new topic cause im not sure of where to put it. So for the moderators feel free to move it if necessarygrandfather passed

My current status is NOA1 May filer an the ISCIS is currently working the May files an starting the June 2022 filers. An i had a few questions concerning how to go about getting my step kids to the US...

1- I have 3 step kids one is is going to be 19 an she is attending the University here in Thailand so she has decided to stay here in Bangkok. I have one who is 12 an she will be going with us when we leave and will be attending the interview with my fiance. I have one that is 10 who will be staying behind and following us with in the year (maybe) cause he is currently staying with his grandfather. An all 3 are on our I-129F form because the original intent was to bring them all home at the same time..

A. So my question is do i have to file a DS-160 for my 19yro step daughter who is on the I-129F but staying behind to attend collage in Bangkok? She will not be coming until after graduation..

B. Do i have to file a DS-160 for my 10yro step son who will be following us with in a year an does he have to attend the interview with my fianc ?

C. If for some reason my step son doesn't follow us within the 1 year period what happens to his status? (This might happen if my fianc decides to let him stay here with his grandfather who is 75

D. If my 10yro step son's status does change do i have to file a I-130 (im assuming)...?

E. Will or can the process (I-130) be expedited because he is a minor who if he is still here will have nobody to care for him except his older sister..? This would mean his grandfather would have passed..

Hello everyone. I have a question about a required document for my fiancee.

She has finally received her interview date for her K1 Visa.

One of the required documents she must bring with her is the single status certificate.

My question is do I need to obtain one as well for her to bring to the interview with her or is that entirely for her. She is from Thailand and I am a U.S. citizen

I've never even heard of such a document.

Thanks for your time.
