We had a question for folks who recently became a permanent resident and visited Social Security office to get a new SSN card because it didn't get mailed despite waiting for more than a few months:
After your visit to the Social Security office, how long did it take for you to get the card?
Thank you.

Hello,

My wife was approved for CR1 in October 2021 and entered US in Feb/2022 and became a permanent resident.

We were married back in 2019.

Could we file tax as married filing jointly for 2021?

Thank you.

Husband visiting US with me on ESTA

Hi everyone!

I ve been lurking here for a while and reading information. My husband and I will file for the CR-1 via consular processing later this year. (We have not filed anything yet and don t plan to until maybe this summer)

However, he is going to visit the US with me in March. I m actually moving back to the US from South Korea and he s helping me, but he will be visiting for a month on his ESTA and then returning home.

I know he should bring a letter from his boss, proof of temporary travelers insurance, phone bills, bank statements and what not proving ties to South Korea.

My question is, has anyone with a Korean spouse experienced issues at the border? He is going to bring his credit and debit cards instead of carrying cash as well because he can use it at international atms. I know they may check how much money he has, so bank statements would help with this.

thank you for your help in advance!

Flying into Seattle from Korea w/ CR1 spouse

My wife w/ CR1 and myself(US Citzen) are travelling from Korea to Seattle in Februrary. She has no physical packet like some of VJers have mentioned. Just electronic format.

  • Will I be able to stand by her when she's at the booth or secondary check point?
  • Does she need to mention she's coming in with CR1? There was a thread about someone coming in with Travel Visa instead of CR1. And having to painfully correct it after the entry.
  • We use PO Box for receiving mails. We want to make sure the CBP/USCIS understand this and put both the physical and the mailing address are correctly on file. For Green Card. Will we have the opportunity to mention this to the officer?
Thank you.
