My case was marked ready by the NVC and am preparing documents for the interview. I was laid off a few months ago, and even though i have years of stable and qualifying income and some assets, I don't want to risk it so I asked my USC friend to be a joint sponsor as his current income qualifies. He isn't part of my household and lives in a different state. I don't expect him to actually provide any financial aid, and he's aware of the legal obligations of being a financial sponsor and is preparing the evidence on his end. For this question in the form: In addition to providing financial support, I intend to make specific contributions to cover the beneficiary's basic living needs. (Yes/No) Is answering "Yes" here basically a requirement to be a financial sponsor? Also, for the part where it asks for a statement of specific contributions, what should he say? Here is my statement for example: I, <PETITIONER NAME>, THE PETITIONER, FULLY INTENT TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT MY BENEFICIARY, <BENEFICIARY NAME> WITH ACCESS TO MY ASSETS, AND EARNINGS UPON MY FUTURE EMPLOYMENT. I INTEND TO PROVIDE HOUSING, FOOD & MONEY WITHIN MY RESIDENCY FOR HER, FIRST AS A FIANCE AND THEN AS MY SPOUSE AFTER HER ARRIVAL IN THE UNITED STATES. Thanks.

We're supposed to have my husband's oath ceremony in Jefferson City, MO on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 which is about 3 hours away from where we live. There is a snow/ice storm headed for Jefferson City (and along our travel route) and is supposed to be at its peak on Wednesday morning right when his ceremony is to taking place. Will they cancel the ceremony? I called the performing arts center where it's being held and the guy on the phone said they didn't know anything yet, but that his manager had a conversation with someone from USCIS towards the end of last week about the upcoming weather. I chatted with Emma on USCIS, and the live agent said they wouldn't know until the morning of the ceremony if it would be cancelled. Considering it's a long drive for us (especially with a 2 year old), we are leaving the day before (tomorrow) in order to be there on time Wednesday morning. Has anyone ever run into this issue?

Hello friends, My fiance and I are looking to start the K-1 process soon. One thing that we have really been wanting to do is to travel together towards the end of the process, we think of it as a honeymoon before we get married because leaving the US would be difficult for a while from what I understand until AOS is complete. Since we have multiple willing cosponsors, would her quitting her job for the purpose of spending time together affect the process in any way or is this something we would just have to report at a certain point? I assume that when filing the documents at my local consulate, that is also the place I would have to interview and collect the visa from? Our goal was to travel to China for several months, but based on everything I have read this would have to be between when the visa is issued but before it expires, and I would not be able to interview together with her at a different consulate in China? Thank you in advance!

I got a case update from USCIS yesterday that they sent the petition to the DoS, it was approved December 4th. How long should i expect to wait until NVC receives and processes it (meaning i get the case number)? Do i the petitioner get an email, or the beneficiary or both of us?

Hello, I am in a weird situation and would like some guidance on what the best way forward for me is. I am the petitioner and my July 18 petition was approved yesterday. I am currently residing abroad in my fianc e's country as I didn't want to be separated (have been abroad for over a year now). Unfortunately, I was laid off from my remote US job last month. I am receiving severance and am eligible to file for unemployment benefits. I understand it will probably be several months until the interview can be scheduled. I believe the Belgrade embassy isn't a busy or high-risk one so maybe it'll be faster. Anyway, what I'm uncertain of is the I-134 form stuff. I have been considering applying for jobs here in Serbia just so I don't have to touch my savings but from what I understand, income earned here wouldn't count as proper income on the I-134 as it wouldn't be US-sourced. So I am wondering if I should just remain unemployed and apply for the benefits once my severance ends next month? Only problem is I'm not sure when exactly I would be able to move and start employment for the US company.. Would me working in Serbia be suspicious to the officer in the interview? If I remain unemployed, I have enough assets and savings, my W2s/tax returns are stable and high income, and can get one of my parents to be a co-sponsor. And I believe unemployment benefits would count as income for the form. Maybe I should just start applying for US jobs once it's at the NVC or something? Thanks for any help.
