My fianc e has her interview coming up. The instructions say to bring any previous or expired passports to the interview along with the current one. She's not sure if she has her old one(s), is this something they actually want to see? I think she has a student visa for Belgium on her previous one from like 2019 and she stayed there for less than 6 months. Not sure how relevant that would be. The DS-160 asked for any countries visited within the last 5 years and she has all those passport stamps on her current one. Would she be fine with just bringing only her current one?

I-134 joint sponsor contributions

My case was marked ready by the NVC and am preparing documents for the interview. I was laid off a few months ago, and even though i have years of stable and qualifying income and some assets, I don't want to risk it so I asked my USC friend to be a joint sponsor as his current income qualifies. He isn't part of my household and lives in a different state. I don't expect him to actually provide any financial aid, and he's aware of the legal obligations of being a financial sponsor and is preparing the evidence on his end.

For this question in the form:

In addition to providing financial support, I intend to make specific contributions to cover the beneficiary's basic living needs. (Yes/No)

Is answering "Yes" here basically a requirement to be a financial sponsor?

Also, for the part where it asks for a statement of specific contributions, what should he say? Here is my statement for example:

I, <PETITIONER NAME>, THE PETITIONER, FULLY INTENT TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT MY BENEFICIARY, <BENEFICIARY NAME> WITH ACCESS TO MY ASSETS, AND EARNINGS UPON MY FUTURE EMPLOYMENT. I INTEND TO PROVIDE HOUSING, FOOD & MONEY WITHIN MY RESIDENCY FOR HER, FIRST AS A FIANCE AND THEN AS MY SPOUSE AFTER HER ARRIVAL IN THE UNITED STATES.

Thanks.

Oath Ceremony - Possible Bad Weather

We're supposed to have my husband's oath ceremony in Jefferson City, MO on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 which is about 3 hours away from where we live. There is a snow/ice storm headed for Jefferson City (and along our travel route) and is supposed to be at its peak on Wednesday morning right when his ceremony is to taking place.

Will they cancel the ceremony? I called the performing arts center where it's being held and the guy on the phone said they didn't know anything yet, but that his manager had a conversation with someone from USCIS towards the end of last week about the upcoming weather.

I chatted with Emma on USCIS, and the live agent said they wouldn't know until the morning of the ceremony if it would be cancelled. Considering it's a long drive for us (especially with a 2 year old), we are leaving the day before (tomorrow) in order to be there on time Wednesday morning.

Has anyone ever run into this issue?

K-1 Question regarding co-sponsorship and travel during the process

Hello friends,

My fiance and I are looking to start the K-1 process soon.

One thing that we have really been wanting to do is to travel together towards the end of the process, we think of it as a honeymoon before we get married because leaving the US would be difficult for a while from what I understand until AOS is complete.

Since we have multiple willing cosponsors, would her quitting her job for the purpose of spending time together affect the process in any way or is this something we would just have to report at a certain point?

I assume that when filing the documents at my local consulate, that is also the place I would have to interview and collect the visa from? Our goal was to travel to China for several months, but based on everything I have read this would have to be between when the visa is issued but before it expires, and I would not be able to interview together with her at a different consulate in China?

Thank you in advance!

I got a case update from USCIS yesterday that they sent the petition to the DoS, it was approved December 4th. How long should i expect to wait until NVC receives and processes it (meaning i get the case number)? Do i the petitioner get an email, or the beneficiary or both of us?
