Making this thread since I didn't see one for this month yet. Got the I-485 and I-765 receipt notices via SMS today, filed May 9th at Chicago office. Surprised I got the texts this quick, or at all lol.

Naturalization Certificate Provided at Oath Ceremony?

My husband had his Citizenship Interview in Kansas City back in January and was approved on the spot. They told him he would receive his oath ceremony appointment notice and that he would need to come back to the Kansas City office to pick up his Naturalization Certificate after the ceremony (or at least that's what he thinks remembers). He was in such a state of relief that he passed the test, so of course his memory is foggy - he doesn't even remember the citizenship questions they asked!

His ceremony was scheduled for February 12 in Jefferson City, but a snowstorm hit the area the night before so it was cancelled. His new ceremony is March 28, next Friday, at the same place in Jeff City.

Do they give you the Naturalization Certificate at the oath ceremony and then bam! - you're done - or will he have to go all the way back to Kansas City to get it?

For reference, we live 4.5 hours away from Kansas City, so it's a bit of a drive.

Hello, I received this letter from the NVC. I did send them an inquiry asking for the case number but they sent me the K1-FTP letter via email not long after so i imagined the inquiry got ignored. I just got this letter from the NVC though which I wasn't expecting, do I need to respond or do anything with this? My fiancee has her interview next week so I hope this doesn't delay anything. It seems like I can just ignore this letter but idk, has anyone else gotten this letter after sending the NVC an inquiry?

Previous/expired passports for interview

My fianc e has her interview coming up. The instructions say to bring any previous or expired passports to the interview along with the current one. She's not sure if she has her old one(s), is this something they actually want to see? I think she has a student visa for Belgium on her previous one from like 2019 and she stayed there for less than 6 months. Not sure how relevant that would be. The DS-160 asked for any countries visited within the last 5 years and she has all those passport stamps on her current one. Would she be fine with just bringing only her current one?

I-134 joint sponsor contributions

My case was marked ready by the NVC and am preparing documents for the interview. I was laid off a few months ago, and even though i have years of stable and qualifying income and some assets, I don't want to risk it so I asked my USC friend to be a joint sponsor as his current income qualifies. He isn't part of my household and lives in a different state. I don't expect him to actually provide any financial aid, and he's aware of the legal obligations of being a financial sponsor and is preparing the evidence on his end.

For this question in the form:

In addition to providing financial support, I intend to make specific contributions to cover the beneficiary's basic living needs. (Yes/No)

Is answering "Yes" here basically a requirement to be a financial sponsor?

Also, for the part where it asks for a statement of specific contributions, what should he say? Here is my statement for example:

I, <PETITIONER NAME>, THE PETITIONER, FULLY INTENT TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT MY BENEFICIARY, <BENEFICIARY NAME> WITH ACCESS TO MY ASSETS, AND EARNINGS UPON MY FUTURE EMPLOYMENT. I INTEND TO PROVIDE HOUSING, FOOD & MONEY WITHIN MY RESIDENCY FOR HER, FIRST AS A FIANCE AND THEN AS MY SPOUSE AFTER HER ARRIVAL IN THE UNITED STATES.

Thanks.
