US Immigration from New Zealand

Hi all,

I am finally able to get back to New Zealand to visit my family. I have been looking on the CDC website and I don't see anything definitive about if travel from NZ is banned or not right now? I know they're in Level 4/Red - Do Not Travel status with their case rate being insane. I am wanting to go back at the end of my semester in May, so not right now while Omicron is peaking. Before I book my tickets I wanted to make sure that I will be able to get back home at the end of my visit. I am an LPR that is fully vaccinated, boostered and will do any and all of the testing required for both directions.

We have recently received our NOA2 and so collating all our documents for the NVC stage.

I see that for the 'civic documents' step they want birth certificates and passports for "You and each family member immigrating with you..."

I am the beneficiary (New Zealand Citizen) and my wife is the petitioner (USC). We are planning to move to the US together with out 2 year old son (both US and NZ Citizen) once I receive my visa (all going well).

My question is are my son and wife 'family members immigrating with me' (and hence I need to include copies of their passports and birth certificates? Or because they are not immigrants (i.e. will enter on US passports) there is no need to include their documents?

My feeling was that I would not need to include their documents, but would love some clarity from someone who understands a bit more than me.

Hi my son has been offered a job as a scuba instructor in Hawaii. We have no idea of the process re visas. Has anyone done something similar and can give advice. We are New Zealanders.

I recently entered the states on a K1 visa, and I have an appointment for a SSN a week on Friday, however, I saw this on the form I'm supposed to be filling out for the appointment:

I have to tick the "Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work Box" but I'm not sure how to explain why I need one? Other than the fact I can't open a bank account or get a driving licence without one.
Did anyone else run into this issue? If so which agency did you ask to explain why you needed one?

We submitted all our docs for NVC on Jan 28th! Back into the waiting...

I haven't seen a thread for us recent NVC submitters yet to track progress so hoping this catches on and people can come here to see how we all progress!
