Biometrics appointment after approved greencard?

My wifes interview was on April 12th. It was approved and we got her greencard later that week.

My stepson case status (age 6, age 4 when filed) also was approved and we got the approval notice in the mail that also stated we should get his greencard within 30 days. On day 30 we got a USCIS letter for a biometrics appointment for his i485

He did his biometrics for his i485 in Nov. 2019. Any idea why theyd want a second? Especially if they already approved the greencard?

Is it normal for biometrics to have to be done again???

His interview was waived on the 12th by the officer interviewing my wife.

Processing time for renewal interview waived applications (Merida, Mexico)

My fianc e and I are currently waiting on Ciudad Juarez to reschedule her K1 visa interview (originally scheduled for August 2020 before being cancelled). In the meantime, she is going to come visit me on a tourist visa. Her previous B2 visa expired fall 2020. She has a renewal interview waiver but still has to bring her paperwork to the ASC in Merida at the end of this month.

My question is: does anyone know how long it is taking embassies in Mexico (or specifically Merida) to process and deliver the B1/B2 visas from renewal interview waived applications after the embassy has the paperwork?

From what I have read in the past it is usually only a few weeks but I don't know if that it still true given the unusual times we are living in.

An information would be great!

FYI for people trying to efile and getting rejected due to incorrect last name or SSN

Hey Guys,

Just thought I would post this because I tried to search online and every source said to paper file because the IRS takes a long time to update their SSN database. This is not true.

My Spouse (beneficiary) applied for her SSN on 04/29/2021 and on 05/04/2021, we received her SSN card. I immediately tried to E-file but the efile kept getting rejected because the Last Name or SSN of my Spouse did not match the IRS records. I checked with tax professionals and was told to file by mail with a copy of her SSN Card. I decided to wait and called SSA to verify her name and information. They confirmed that her information is correct and told me that SSA send IRS updated records every 8 to 10 days so to wait.

This morning, I decided to resubmit the returns online and they were both finally accepted.

So to everyone with newly issued SSN Cards and being rejected when efiling due to last name or SSN mismatch: All you have to do is wait another week and your records should be transferred to IRS. Be sure to call SSA to make sure they have the name and DOB correct as well.

Good luck.
