"Recruiting Agency" in Mexico - Scam?

I am a USC petitioning for my husband and stepdaughters, but I'm posting here for a friend of mine (seems like since I've started this process, I am everyone's go-to for immigration questions ).

He's a franchise owner of a couple restaurants in the U.S., and he has a former employee that now lives in Mexico that he would like to help bring to the U.S. through an employment-based visa (if that's even possible). I believe he's already discussed this with the former employee because my friend received an e-mail from a place called LaborMexy, which seems to be a recruiting agency for companies for workers from Mexico. He wanted to know if the e-mail he got looked legit, and I really don't think it does, but wanted the opinions of all of VJers who are much more knowledgeable than me.

The lawyer and company do exist, so maybe the spelling errors are due to a language barrier issue. Still, to my knowledge, employment-based visas are petitioned by the employer in the U.S., NOT by the employee in the foreign country through a lawyer, correct?

Also - any insight into what "process their pardons with USCIS" means would be great.

N-400 Interview and required evidence

Hi all,

My husband finally got the citizenship interview scheduled after over 2 years pending, for his N-400 application. It says to bring his MX passport. A couple questions:

- The NOA says to bring passport, green card and any other documents used for travel. Does it matter if his MX passport is expired? The USCIS document doesn t mention validity. (We haven t left the US since prior COVID started in 2019 and his passport expires this month which is of course the same month as his interview. )

- He wants to renew his MX passport but isn t sure the consulate will have it renewed prior to his interview. Does he need to wait to renew it? Or it needs to be valid so he has to renew it?

- Does he need the original passport he traveled with for the interview or can he provide the renewed one if it s done in time?

TIA for your help!

So my wife is eligible to take her USC test next year so naturally we started thinking about starting the process of moving her family (Mexico) over to the US as well. I have a very close relationship with her family and would love for them to come to the US. Her family is as such:

Dad (42)

Mom (42)

Sister (20 married w/ 2 children)

Brother (11 but was born in the U.S.)

Sister (10)

Being that her brother was born in the US I know she won t have to petition for him. Is it true the wait time for her sisters to be able to come over as a LPR would be 22 years right now? Is there any options for them to be in the US faster permanently? How long would it take for her parents to be LPRs?

Also, in case you are wondering about her USC brother, her and her family was in the US unlawfully from 1999-2011 in which her father was deported and the rest of the family voluntarily left back to Mexico with only her father incurring a 10 year ban.

Wife is authorized user on credit card, but checking account is joint

Hi all,

Quick question and title really says it all, but I (US citizen) am the primary account owner of our credit card account and my wife is an authorized user. Therefore, my name is on the monthly statements but we both have our own cards. Our checking account is joint and shows both of our names on the statements and of course shows the monthly credit card charge which would match the statement. When I include our credit card account statements, would a page showing that she is an authorized user suffice?

Got married in the Catholic church after civil ceremony

Hi All,

My wife and were legally married in a small civil ceremony with family and close friends shortly after her arrival on a K1 visa. It was always the plan to have a much larger wedding in the Catholic church down the line. She got her GC in November of 2020 and we got re-married in her home country earlier this year. There were 150+ people and it was a much more typical wedding. This of course had a big effect on some of our financial and travel activity. Has anyone done anything similar? It was really a matter of religion and celebration so I m not sure how USCIS would view a situation like that.

Thanks in advance! You all are fantastic.
