Me and my wife are filing jointly for the 2024 tax year. We, as many of you all know who have done this, do not want to send in her passport for an ITIN. We obtained certified copies from PH gov to send in as ID of foreign status. On form W7, do we check box "Other" or "Passport"?. Spent hours on google and can't find this clear answer anywhere.

I am sponsoring my wife. She will likely enter with a cr1, which means she should be able to become a U.S. citizen after 3 more years from entering. She wants to sponsor her brother to come here as well. Does anyone know what my (as her spouse) liabilities are if she were to sponsor him without me?

My parents are retired and in their mid 70's. They live in Mexico. My mom has dual citizenship french and mexican. My dad has french citizenship/ mexican permanent residency Their visa when they visit is through the french passports (it was easier to get the ESTA to come, than a tourist visa for mexicans.) 1. I assume when I do the I-130, I will list them as french, to be consistent with their ESTA & entries, is this a correct assumption in your opinion? 2. When parents are approved, they don't have a wait time, correct? - If so, how long do they have between approval and entering with intention of moving in? (like if they were not finished selling their house, and they needed more time... how does the timing works?) 3.. Do sponsor/beneficiary have to prove they have healthcare when they come in? or just that you have enough income? thanks!

My aunt petitioned her brother (my other uncle) in 2001. The dept of state has sent his approval to the National Visa Center to attend his meeting at the embassy but my uncle is and has been in the US since 98. If he leaves he will trigger a 10 year bar. What would be his options? His wife and his kids are not US citizens.

Hello everyone. You guys were very helpful to me when we were in the process of my wife's adjustment of status and naturalization. I have another question, and hopefully will be able to get some answers and advice on this issue. My wife, who is from Mexico, became a permanent resident in 2012, and then became a US Citizen in 2019. We've been planning on applying to bring her mother here, but just haven't gotten around to it, yet. Recently, my wife's sister, who lives in Mexico, has made a series of very, very poor decisions, and has been arrested and is facing some serious charges and jail time. I anticipate her being convicted, unfortunately. Her 11 year-old son is now living with my mother-in-law. If my sister-in-law is, indeed, convicted, she likely will not get out of prison before he is considered an adult. My wife and I feel as though the best thing for him is for my sister-in-law to sign away her parental rights, and have my mother-in-law adopt him so that she can effectively raise him and be able to legally make decisions regarding him. Here's where my question comes in. If we apply for my mother-in-law to immigrate here, assuming the adoption of the child is done and buttoned up prior to us applying, will the minor child be included and approved once she is approved? If I understand the rules correctly, I believe that minor children are included with parents when permission to immigrate is granted. Would the same rules apply to an adopted minor child, especially considering the adopted child is a blood relative? Thanks in advance for any advice!
