Post NVC DQ - Changing Assigned Embassy

Hello Everyone,

PLEASE HELP me to determine whether I should contact NVC to chance the assigned embassy for my wife's CR1 Interview.

I am a USC and she is from Iran and residing there. Her case was DQ'd in March of 2022 and NVC has assigned the case to the Abu Dhabi US Embassy (by default). For Iranian residents, the three choices for US embassies are, Ankara, Yerevan and Abu Dhabi.

Ankara is severely backlogged and they do not process non Turkish residents at the moment and Abu Dhabi seems to be the default choice when NVC assigns cases for Iranians. Based on feedback I heard from others waiting for an appointment, Abu Dhabi is discriminating when it comes to assigning interview dates for non UAE residents. Some Iranians, Iraqi, and Kurdish nationalities are waiting without any update on an interview letter for 12-18 months already. However, if you are a UAE resident the waiting time is about 6 months.

Yerevan (Armenia) is the last option and it seems they are not as backlogged.

Question that I have:

  • If I call NVC and ask them to assign my wife's case to Yerevan, would that set me back again and I start from day zero for Yerevan? I already waited 4 months past DQ in the Abu Dhabi queue

I would appreciate any other advise you can share with me regarding changing embassies.

Thanks you!

Birth Certificates----Belgium

I am moving to Belgium with my family, where I already have a Residency permit.

Due to the fact that my wife did not have a US passport, I waited to apply for her Visa/Permit

My problem is that the Belgium government wants fresh birth certificates (less then six months old), I am currently getting a six month lead time to get those documents re-issued.

I have no one in the US to help me, and I am not in the UA, and if I wait that long, all of my other documents are going to age out.

Are there any reliable and reasonably priced services that will get these documents for me?

Getting married again in Belgium is practicable, but the remaining issue is my daughters birth certificate.

Greetings everyone,

As you all know (or as you can tell), my fianc is from Iran. During this point in time of both of our country s history, It is blatantly obvious attention that are countries do not see eye to eye as we are people that not only sit on opposite sides of the world, but which governments have completely different outlooks on life. Thankfully, as has somebody who works in government contract work, specifically in Intel, this is not really affected my Trajectory of life much as I am able to retain by TS/SCI Clearance because I have been so open and honest with my relationship with her to my FSO (and my Army Unit) and have reported her to the Defense Countterintelligence Security Agency for all records. However this does not draw the line to make the best of our circumstance completely. Because I want to continue want to continue meeting up with her, but don t want to put myself at jeopardy for going overseas and risk something happening to either of us, I considered (and would like to know) how one would go about getting an expedite under the interest of national security, so I can keep performing in the job that I am read onto perform but also be able to get her out and away from her country due to all the riots breaking out in her hometown for her safety. If anyone could offer me some advice or give me some pointers as to the best way to go about this that would be greatly appreciated, if not thanks for reading and I hope everyone s journey is going great in trying to be together with the one they love. Thanks.

So our K1 was under AP for a month. Two weeks ago got an email to bring the passport and the status changed to non immigrant application received. Two days ago it changed back to refused and immigrant visa. They have the passport. The embassy is Tbilisi Georgia. Any idea why it changed back to immigrant visa?
