In his the executive order titled "Executive Order on Restoring Faith in Our Legal Immigration Systems and Strengthening Integration and Inclusion Efforts for New Americans" , in Sec 5, the President has a section requiring the current glacial and inefficient N400 process to be made better. I quote from the EO below. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/02/02/executive-order-on-restoring-faith-in-our-legal-immigration-systems-and-strengthening-integration-and-inclusion-efforts-for-new-americans/ Sec. 5. Promoting Naturalization. (a) Improving the naturalization process. The Secretary of State, the Attorney General, and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall, within 60 days of the date of this order, develop a plan describing any agency actions, in furtherance of the policy set forth in section 1 of this order, that they will take to: (i) eliminate barriers in and otherwise improve the existing naturalization process, including by conducting a comprehensive review of that process with particular emphasis on the N-400 application, fingerprinting, background and security checks, interviews, civics and English language tests, and the oath of allegiance; (ii) substantially reduce current naturalization processing times; (iii) make the naturalization process more accessible to all eligible individuals, including through a potential reduction of the naturalization fee and restoration of the fee waiver process; (iv) facilitate naturalization for eligible candidates born abroad and members of the military, in consultation with the Department of Defense; and (v) review policies and practices regarding denaturalization and passport revocation to ensure that these authorities are not used excessively or inappropriately. (b) Implementing improvements to the naturalization process. Within 180 days of the issuance of the plan developed pursuant to subsection (a) of this section, the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall each submit a report to the President describing the progress in implementing the plan, any barriers to implementing the plan, and any additional areas of concern that should be addressed to ensure that eligible individuals are able to apply for naturalization in a fair and efficient manner. (c) Strategy to promote naturalization. There is established an Interagency Working Group on Promoting Naturalization (Naturalization Working Group) to develop a national strategy to promote naturalization. The Naturalization Working Group shall be chaired by the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Secretary s designee, and it shall include the heads of the following agencies, or senior-level officials designated by the head of each agency: (i) the Secretary of Labor; (ii) the Secretary of Health and Human Services; (iii) the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; (iv) the Secretary of Education; (v) the Secretary of Homeland Security; (vi) the Commissioner of Social Security; and (vii) the heads of other agencies invited to participate by the Working Group chair. (d) Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Naturalization Working Group shall submit a strategy to the President outlining steps the Federal Government should take to promote naturalization, including the potential development of a public awareness campaign.

There is a question in the Affidavit (as part of NORI application) that asks for: "The Exchange programme was sponsored by the Government of /Agencies of the Government of ____________________ and financed by the Government of / Agencies of the Government of _____________________ ." I am here as a part of the SEVIS student exchange program. My concern is the finance. I have not received any grants from Universities nor have I received scholarships like FullBright. I have received my paychecks from the Universities I have worked in. How should I fill this section? Thanking you.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the members of this forum. Some I have interacted via private messaging, some via commenting on their posts, or receiving their valuable comments on my post. Thanks to all the amazing knowledgeable members for their testimonies, their directions, and suggestions, my husband and I were able to do the paperwork on our own and everything went well. I did not receive my EAD, and it never got updated beyond the Biometrics. However, our interview notice arrived within two months of Biometrics, so we didn't try to expedite anything. I spoke to an immigration agent, just to be sure that they will update the status at some point, and I no longer need the EAD and Parole combo card. Again, thank you everyone for your experiences and journeys, we were able to take notes from many members' stories and navigate through. Look forward to future paperwork!

I am helping my parents file their N400. They got their Green card through my brother who became a citizen around 8-10 years back. The N400 application asks for the details of children including their A number. Unfortunately my brother cannot find his paperwork and surrendered his GC when he got his citizenship. Do we need to add the A number for him or can we say he does not have one since he is a USC now? Any help is appreciated!

Hi, I was just curious if anyone else has submitted their AOS package recently? Any updates or ideas on the backlog situation? I filed my AOS in December 2020. Received NOA and it's been 50 days so far. Curious about other processing times!
