Question:

1. Can a person self-sponsor for the i134 at the K visa interview in London? If so, which form is used or do you have any information on how on earth to look at this!

- If No to the above question, can my partner and I use my savings (even though in GBP not USD) plus his disability to do my i134 for the London embassy OR is it best to get the joint sponsor we are using for the adjustment of status to do the i134 also.

- If Yes to Q1 then what evidence do i need beyond a bank statement?

PLEASE HELP. We have been feeling so lost with these forms!

Circumstance

Me:

- I am a UK citizen engaged to a US citizen filing for fianc visa

- I am resident in the UK

- I have a full time job in the UK earning between 50-55k annually. (We are aware I need to quit my job if K visa is approved and I go to the states. We will be applying for my right to work as soon as we get married and then my job has said they will hire me remotely as a contractor after i have a right to work again. I do not plan to work illegally.

- I am a sole trader also in the UK working remotely for a UK company that contracts me in to provide services. This is new and is going to be used similar to above once i have the right to work again!

- Once i am allowed to work i will be using my UK jobs to support our household PLUS look for work in the USA to allow my income to be counted in the future as aware that UK salaries and income are not considered income.

- I have 30k in savings in a UK savings account for 6months +

Him-

- US citizen fianc who lives in the US with 4 dependants

- He is on disability and looking after 4 kids therefore we have a joint sponsor for when doing the adjustment of status side of things if K visa is approved

We did use a lawyer in the US to start but have had to let them go as they were overly expensive and actually did not understand our situation and made multiple errors on forms that we were told that wouldn't happen because they understand the forms and we don't ! So we are not doing this alone after spending over $5k with nothing out of it.

Good afternoon,

Anyone knows the process or/and requirements to obtain a NH or any US state driving license, considering rules are similar, through a K1 visa AOS I-485 pending and an approved I-765 with currently having my SSN and EAD?

tried contacting via email and calls to DMV to find out what paperwork do I need to show when making an appointment, but no luck.

Thank you,

Jon

My new SSN arrived yesterday in the mail, but when I try to add it to my bank checking account, it keeps getting rejected or fails to verify. I'm also trying to file taxes through TurboTax with my spouse, but it keeps rejecting my SSN, also when trying to create an account through SSA, again it fails to verify. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I wait a few weeks, or is there potentially an issue with my SSN?

Thanks!

This is the misters first year receiving his UK pension here in the US and we have questions lol. We plan to see a CPA to at least get us started off on the right foot (I usually do our taxes) but what I'm wondering if any of you know: does the UK send any type of year end statement to pensioners? What do you take as proof of the income to the CPA?

DCF London - any guidance on what qualifies as a "short notice" job offers is in weeks/months?

Hi there - I have been lurking for a while and have seen a few similar posts, but none had the actual outcome of their DCF application. I am a USC living in England and married my EU citizen spouse ~3months ago. I worked for my current company in the US for a few years before being reassigned to a temporary contract-based project in the UK. I have been here for ~3years and my assignment ends next September (~10months from now). After the project ends, I will be reassigned back to our US-based company with guaranteed employment. I could technically seek out a new project and stay in the UK if any are available at that time, but this isn't guaranteed and we would really prefer to start our life in the US. The wording on what's considered as a "short notice" job offer/reassignment for DCF feels intentionally vague, and my worry is that our moving timelines would be too far in the future to be considered.

I see two options for us:

  1. Start "normal" CR1-1/I-130 petition ASAP and pursue a new contract to stay in the UK. This would likely get us the visa eventually, but would require us to stay abroad longer than we planned. Moreso, my UK contract isn't 100% guaranteed to be renewed, and I could have to relocate back stateside without my spouse for many months.
  2. Try our luck with filing through DCF with a "short notice" reassignment exceptional circumstance. This would allow us to relocate as planned when my contract ends, but if we are rejected, we would've wasted a lot of time that could've been put towards the I-130 route.

So, my question is... has anyone heard of success stories applying for DCF with job offer dates >6months in the future? It seems like most individuals who have qualified for DCF with "short notice" (understandably!) have relocation offers within a few weeks or <6months. Might we be better off waiting until springtime to apply for DCF? I'm conscious of this being a bit of a dishonest route since I know my end date well in advance, and don't want to waste precious months that could just be put towards the I-130 process. I know acceptance/rejection isn't guaranteed either way, but just curious if 10 months even constitutes "short notice".

Any insight is super appreciated. Thanks :)
