Understanding Federal Poverty Guidelines

Hi all. We are coming to the stage to submit the affidavit of support for a UK beneficiary under a I130 stand-alone visa. We are looking into the federal poverty guidelines and just needed a bit more clarity on the situation.

Where it says people/family in household.... for the applicant being a single person living by themselves, does it mean they must earn $21,775 BEFORE tax do be eligible to sponsor the beneficiary under the I130 application as the petitioner in our case lives alone. (Even though on the usvis.gov website it mentions 2 people in the household and does not mention 1)

For a joint sponsor with 1 adult, 2 children in their household, they must earn money $27,450 BEFORE tax to be eligible to be a joint sponsor. It cannot be combined with the earnings of the petitioner in another household? Would you completely leave out the tax return and only attach recent payslips (if so, over how many months would you attach these payslips)

Getting into a bit more details now. If the latest 2020 tax return showed they earned less but in fact this calendar year they would sufficiently earn enough, what would we attach to prove this?

If we have a joint sponsor, do we still have to submit an affidavit of support from the petitioner if they earn below the threshold? And does the joint sponsor also need to attach a tax return and/or recent payslips, if so, how many payslips would suffice.

All information is taken from this website https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p but we have also noticed the information from the HHS website is a lot different https://aspe.hhs.gov/2021-poverty-guidelines

Hi all. We are expecting our application to be received by the NVC this week and we just wanted to know what documents are needed for this process.

The beneficiary is from the UK and we are expecting to be in the US in the next few weeks and we wanted to know what documents we should bring with us in preparation for the NVC stage.

Does anyone have a full list of documents required for this stage and when they are due. We want to know if we should apply for the police document now as we will be away when it is received to the home address.

Hi there. We will be filing next month for the ROC and we have most of our documents together already from the last two years.

Tax Transcripts

Bank Statements

Lease Agreements

Electricity Bills

Phone Bills

Car Insurance

Renters Insurance

Health Insurance

Pictures of us and family

Are we required to also do the affidavits of support?

Has anyone recently filed ROC in the last year without them and been approved?

We have plenty of people who can do it but we are getting close to when I want to send it off and I'm wondering if its a requirement or not?

Thank you. :)

Change in signatures in evidence

Hi all! Me and my fiance are putting together our pack for the I-129F and getting evidence.
One piece of evidence worries me. We have a lot of stuff from a big trip we took that will be used as our evidence for in person meetings. One of them is stamps in my old passport that show me entering a country (my partner has the same). However, my old passport includes my old signatur as I got it as a teen and used it for the past 10 years before renewing in the last few months.
Is this a cause for concern? Will they accept it with a different signature?
Everything else is the same and the ID photos look like the same person (albeit 10 year difference).
I think we have enough overall evidence that we will be fine (bank statements, photos, hotel bookings etc) but the passport stamps are good solid evidence so I hope they are usable.

Help with first tax return since marriage

Hi we are filing our joint tax return for the first time since marrying in December. We know we have to file W7 and get an ITIN etc but we have a question about the tax return itself.

Do we need to enter the foreign spouses income in the same tax return being sent to IRS with form W7

if yes (which I believe the answer) do we enter income just in 2020 calendar year and how would we attach W2 as U.K. citizens do not get W2

uk citizens get a Tax Year to date P60 slip on April 5 for everything earned from April 6 - April 5 as that is the tax year in England.

So how would we attach a document if they do not provide such in the U.K. Has anyone else had this issue and how do you get around it? Do we just add up the U.K. citizens income for the year and add it without any slip or form of proof?
