Hello everyone!

My fianc is currently living in Venezuela after what was supposed to be a 2 month trip, but covid hit and he got stuck there. His passport expired in November 2020. I wasn t too worried because I am aware that Colombia and the US allow expired Venezuelan passports. For those who are aware of the situation, you know obtaining a passport in Venezuela is next to impossible.

My fianc will have to travel to Bogota for our interview and said that he thinks he needs a valid passport to LEAVE Venezuela, can anyone help confirm this? We can get him a two year extension but it comes at a cost (a cost we have already paid once before, but then they shut down in 2020 and now want us to pay again). I can find plenty online about entering Colombia with his expired passport, but am having trouble getting info on whether an expired passport will cause trouble on the Venezuela side of things.

My head has been spinning all day. At times I feel like he is trapped there. Ugh! Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I'd like to know who controls the US embassies. I know that due to the pandemic they were closed and reopened, but looking I see that everyone has continued to assign appointments except the Embassy of Bogot in Colombia. There are cases with DQ since November 2019 pending appointment for interviews. We have written to the embassy and even the White House asking for help but there are no results. hundreds of families separated by CR1 IR1 cases. Any suggestions I appreciate.

I I received an email from immigration today that said that my I-130 is currently under review. This is after I submitted my request for evidence. How long does it typically take for the immigration service to evaluate and I 130 once they begin the process?
