Hi All,

We got married in March when my wife came to the US for a visit. We were not planning on getting married at that time. We were engaged. We decided to make the visa process a little easier to get married. We filed an I-130 in April once my wife was back in Brazil. I have not seen her since she left due to the COVID travel restrictions and the lack of vacation time at work. I am heading down there in just under 2 weeks. She is awesome and I love her to no ends.

I was married before. My ex-wife had a lot of issues. She tried as hard as she could to control me by any means necessary. Once I filed for divorce, my ex-wife started with making constant threats to get me kicked out of the house. We were a couple months before the divorce was complete and she called the police making false allegations against me. The police came to the house. I had video of the entire situation showing I did not threaten her or touch her and that she was the aggressor. Yet, I am the one that got arrested. The city prosecutor filed an assault charge against me. The charges were dismissed. The police detective assigned to the case told me after the charges were dropped that they knew she was lying and they never investigated her claims. I told my wife all about this and my prior marriage. The attorney I hired to fight this was perplexed, he has never seen the police tell his witnesses to not come to court and ignore the subpoena. The city prosecutor was forced not to dismiss the charges immediately based on policies within the county.

I read about the Adam Walsh acts. Everything evolves around convictions for violent offenses or acts with children. Could this slow down our application?

Thank you!

Hello everyone! Need a bit of help...

Does anyone have the official instructions to fill out the I-944 form? I have looked on the USICS website and they only provide the form itself, but I could not find the instructions to fill it out.

Hi guys,

urgent question.

I am a current I-751 applicant, I have a stamp on my passport saying that I m a legal resident extended for another year.
I am supposed to fly out tomorrow abroad to see my mom and in the main time my I-751 application got approved and in the approval letter it says something like:

You should not travel outside the United States before receiving your new card, as you may have difficulty reentering the United States. If an emergency arises and you have a need to travel outside the United States prior to receive your permanent resident card, you may make an appointment at your local USCIS office to request a stamp in your passport that shows temporary evidence of status as a lawful permanent resident.

my question is. I already have a valid stamp that shows evidence of my current resident status that I ve used to travel before, would I need another stamp or am I good to go?

Should I pay a new ($350) SEVIS fee and get a new I-20 so I'm not out of status while waiting for AOS?

Hi!

I'm an F-1 student and we just filed for AOS based on marriage to USC (arrived at Chicago lockbox 8/17). My I-20 expired on 8/18 but I haven't gotten a NOA1 yet. Honestly I just didn't get a notification from the school that it was about to expire and given we were busy with the AOS package I just missed the extension deadline. I'm still within the 60-day grace period for F-1 students.

I'm unsure whether I'm staying enrolled this semester, but if I decide to stay in school, should I pay a new ($350) SEVIS fee and get a new I-20 just so I'm not out of status, or does it not matter?

I'm assuming I need to get a new I-20 if I plan on keeping my student job since I don't have a EAD yet, but other than that, is there any reason I should consider paying the $350 to be in status? I'm assuming any overstay should be forgiven, but it feels uncomfortable to be out of status and not have received a NOA-1 yet.

Thanks!

Hi everyone, does anyone has news or an estimated time of when the US consulate in Rio de Janeiro will reopen?

I know we have to wait for official news, but me and my wife are really anxious because we have been apart for so long (our process started in Feb 2019) and we have been traveling to see each other as much as we could, but now because of the Covid it became even harder.

:(

Our NVC documents are approved already so we are just waiting for the Brazilian consulate to reopen to schedule our interview... I know we might not get any information now, but we're just hoping to maybe get some good news soon since a lot of the embassies and consulates around the world are opened already.

Thanks for reading everyone, stay safe! :)
