Hello everyone, My brother has a pending adjustment of status. He got his work card and didn't have any problem in applying for a limited driver's license. On his card says he falls under category C09. However, his wife received her employment authorization with category C09P. It says she can use as advance parole. She went to DLD to apply for her learner's permit and they didn't accept her employment authorization because of the P. For what I understand, this P means that this is a combo card, valid for work and travel. I think they don't understand there, the lady was saying the P means parole and may think that this employment card is not valid. She asked to my sister-in-law to bring her I-797 notice showing that she has an adjustment pending. We will go back there next Monday and bring everything they have. But my question is: Does the USCIS still issue work/travel combo cards? I saw an article saying that they were discontinued. I am trying to search for good sources explaining what this card means. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi I read this WARNING here and am trying to make sense of the i30 process: "If you are already married, and your spouse came to the US on a tourist visa with the intent of immigration and marriage, then he/she should return to his/her home abroad, and the I-130 (or along with an I-129f for a K-3 Visa) should be filed with the relative outside of the U.S. to avoid denial, deportation, or even being banned from re-entry to the US." https://www.visajourney.com/guides/i130-spouse-inside-usa/ I am a native US citizen, and recently married a foreign national who came here in 2018 on a Tourist visa, then soon thereafter converted that to a F1 student visa, which is valid through September 2023. We met with an immigration lawyer who mentioned nothing about the need to return home abroad. We have all the evidence and supporting documents and are just about ready to file, but these kinds of warnings are troubling. The fact is, she CAN'T return home abroad without a "permission to travel" - which is ONLY granted once an i30 has been submitted (F1 stduents cannot leave the US if their change of status was obtained in the US. They can only travel freely if their F1 was obtained in their home country) . So, what the heck? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hello, I was wondering if anybody has had a similar situation where they had submitted an expedite request a few weeks ago and they haven't heard back from yet. However, some new developments came up during our waiting for this expedite with the health of a grandparent that is not able to undergo surgery and has limited time left. The first expedite was for financial loss, but since we haven't heard back anything in 2 weeks, I was wondering if we could submit another expedite for Humanitarian reasons while the 1st one is still active? Or do we have to wait until we hear back from the other one and wait 5 days if denied before applying again?

Hi, My wife has applied for an emergency advanced parole because her sister is very sick and could pass away. We have an appointment tomorrow. My question is just about the list of things we're required to bring, that they sent in the email notice. The last item is "A completed Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, with payment (if payment is required)." We already have a pending I-131 application for her and will be bringing the I-797 NOA for it. So, will we have to pay again? Thanks,

EAD Approved Same Day as Biometrics?? Mistake? |

Hi all, So we got our biometrics notice about 2 or 3 weeks ago in the mail and went to the actual appointment yesterday. When we got back home, we checked online to see if there was an update and there was, they had changed the status to "Actively being reviewed by USCIS". The next morning (Today), my wife received an email saying there was an update, and we thought it was the same one we saw yesterday, but when we signed on, it said the card was being produced! We looked at the documents and saw there was the approval notice that was posted yesterday, the same day as our biometrics appointment, saying that we will receive the card in 7-10 days. So now we're wondering if this is a mistake or if anyone has had a similar experience? Mostly asking because our AP status has not changed at all and we filed them together. Or if we'll be receiving two different cards for EAP and AP?
