so we applied the eCRBA and requested an interview at Toronto consulate. Can I ask you what country/consulate you applied the CRBA and scheduled the interview? We tried using the calendar app to schedule an interview but it said to instead email TorontoCRBA@state.gov so we did. We received an automated response with a survey to request an interview date, which we did. They gave us the option to pick from 3 dates and we requested a date in the second week of July. Its been 2 weeks since we submitted this and we have not heard anything back. From what I am hearing, applying/walking in person at Toronto consulate is not an option. Is that true to your knowledge?

Hi! were you able to get the interview scheduled? If yes, how? Did you submit every record of presence in the U.S. even if you did not have an evidence of it or only the time period for which you had an evidence of presence? I have lived here 22 years and have records covering 12 years. Not sure if I should also include the remaining 10 years for which I do not have records.

We are filling the CRBA DS-2029 application for our newborn. I am a USC who acquired the citizenship 15 years ago. Prior to that I was a permanent resident (green card holder) for 7 years. My wife is a Canadian citizen and our baby was born in Canada just 2 weeks ago. I have a few questions about the application: 1. In section 2j, the application asks about "precise periods of time spent in the US". I understand the presence in the US requirement and more than qualify for it even during the last 6 years (only made short trips to Canada and remained in the US most of the time). My question is if I should list all dates spent in the US in 22 years since I have been in the US? In other words, how thorough do we need to be here? 2. I have the dates during which I was outside of the US for the past 7 years but do not have specific dates prior to that (there were only 3 or 4 trips during the first 15 years and they were always less than 1 week). 3. For evidence of presence in the US, I am including last 7 years of W2 statements, 7 years of federal tax transcripts, 7 years of utility and auto insurance bills and college transcripts that span 6 years. Is that sufficient evidence? Is there anything else that I should submit? 4. The US consulate website in Toronto instructs to submit the application online, but the application says there is no online option in Canada (seems like a discrepancy on consulate webpage). Should we mail or email the application? 5. I was checking to see if appointment slots are available for CRBA. The consulate page has an option to schedule appointments but there is no open slots available in foreseeable future. Should I just email or call them to schedule the appointment? Anything else that I should consider including? I really appreciate all the feedback I can get. Thanks!

Hi Folks, I am a USC and have lived in the US continuously for over 20 years. I applied for a CR1 visa for my wife (Canadian citizen) last year. Our I130 was approved and we also cleared the NVC step. Our interview date is in July. My wife gave birth to our first child just last week in Canada (after we received the interview confirmation). Based on the Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) rules, our child qualifies for US citizenship. However, we are not sure how to proceed. Should I fill out the CRBA forms and get a separate appointment for child's passport? Or should we just take the forms to my wife's interview for CR1 visa since it is only a month from now? We would like to have my wife and my child move together to the US. Any insights on this is appreciated.

thanks for your reply. Do we need to include a letter explaining the move since it will be 1 week into the future of us submitting these documents (and also since the new address is different than our "current" address that was on I-130 application)?

Hi Folks, our I-130 was approved and we received NOA2 last week. We are now working on collecting our documentation for the NVC stage. I will be moving from my current address to a new address in 1 week. My question is if we should specify the new address on I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and DS-260 (application for the visa)? The new address is not my current address yet but it will be in 1 week.

What was the conclusion here? Did you need the PC from UAE or was the requirement waived since you are not living there?

Hi folks, our I-130 was recently approved and we are now preparing documentation for the NVC stage. My wife is a Canadian citizen who lived in the UAE for studies. She was there from 2010 - 2016, on and off, for a cumulative period over 1 year. She did not however stay there continuously for a 1 year or more period. In other words, she was studying there during the semesters and spending her time off back in Canada. She has been living in Canada since 2017. NVC processing page says to submit the police report if: If you Have ever lived in another country for 12 months or more AND Were 16 years or older at the time you lived there THEN submit a police certificate from The country where you used to live. In Short: 1) My wife has not lived in the UAE since 2016 (lives in Canada since then) 2) Did not stay in the UAE for a continuous 1 year or more period I am assuming we need to pull the police report since she lived there cumulatively for over 1 year?

I logged in to uscis website to check my I-130 petition status for my wife and the site is showing the following message. Is anyone else having this issue? Error retrieving case status We are having trouble retrieving your case status. Try again later. Your case status is unavailable at this time. We are working to get you accurate information as soon as possible.

thank you! I think I may be in this same boat. An ITIN cannot be issued without a return unless there are some exceptions (that do not apply to our situation). I think I will have to wait for the open season then try to add my spouse to my health plan without an SSN.

Hi and thank you for your response. She does not have an ITIN but it looks like I should apply for one asap. We filed our taxes as MFS this year so I did not need her ITIN, but for health insurance I definitely think this would be needed. Its good to know that someone else got this done using an ITIN. Thanks!

Hi folks, my spouse is a Canadian citizen who currently has health insurance through her employer in Canada. I have health insurance here in the US from my employer. We got married last year and I submitted our I-130 application back in January. I am now looking into adding her to my health insurance plan from work. I probably should have tried this within the 30 days after getting married but that's obviously a missed boat. We did not think about this since we were both covered with our respective employers. We are now waiting for our I-130 approval and I am not expecting her to arrive here until some time next year. That gives me the opportunity to try to add her to my health plan during the open enrollment period (when she will still be in Canada). Has anyone else added their spouses during the open enrollment period when the spouse was not physically in the US and waiting for immigration? I was very curious to see how you were able to add your foreign spouses to your US based employer's healthcare plan. Thank you in advance!
