  1. October 1st 2023 both the wife and son were approved for their green cards! Granted it is conditional because it's been less than 2 years, but it is still exciting. There was no interview. I literally think it hinged on the son's medical.
  2. Everything was completed (including medical) and USCIS confirmed receipt of the evidence (local office in Houston) yesterday (Tuesday 22 Aug). So we will keep an eye out on the son's status since it's linked to my account. I will keep you all updated.
  3. We decided to move forward with the vaccine to fulfill the requirements. We will go Friday and fulfill everything in hopes that the local center in Houston receives it on Monday/Tuesday. I will keep you all updated!
  4. We received the RFE for the son which was "Please issue another I-693 form." Backstory on this, since the war was starting to brew in Ukraine, my wife received her second dose of covid 19 (required to immigrate at the time) a few days before we rushed them out of the country (which was a miracle since the airport was destroyed a couple days after they flew out). She was able to complete her dose by staying out of the US for the remainder of the 2 weeks, but of course it was not documented on the DS medical form. So before we performed the AoS, we grabbed medicals for her and the son at the local civil surgeon we found here in Houston. At that time, they gave us a copy of the immunization records page so we could also provide this to the school/daycare/etc and it shows that he was not age appropriate for COVID 19 (he was 5 and a few months at the time). Now a year and a half later, USCIS RFEs us asking us to provide it again. I am checking each medical facility to see but the first I called said my son (who is now 6 years and some months) has to have 1 dose. I was trying to defend against the dr's office who originally did the medical and said it's valid for 2 years instead of 1, but I read what I-693 says and it says the document is valid for 2 years. The document they packed in the envelope and we sent off to USCIS. So if it is lost, it is understandable that any copies are no longer valid. We are going to do what we need to do but, that is where we stand. I know we are only a few weeks away from an approval after turning everything in (at least pending any weird mistakes that I won't focus on) but man, it is fun.
  5. Update on my wife's case. I have been faithfully checking the site here lately after seeing all of the approvals. Today I checked and there was a cancellation to a request for evidence. We are going to access her account later to ensure there was not something missed on the times I was checking case status through the website (not her account) as I was checking weekly/biweekly since January. I noticed I think on this thread that someone had an RFE, then a cancellation, then within a short timeframe, they were either called to an interview or approved. Either way, it was exciting to see the case status change. I thought I checked it in the last few days but this week has been a whirlwind so it does not surprise me if I did not.
  6. I sure can! "l, (My full name), am still legally able and willing to marry (my then fiancee's full name) and intend to do so within 90 days of her arrival into the United States using the K1 Visa. I have been engaged to Anna since December 11, 2020. Our original hope was for her to have the K1 visa and already arrive to the United States in the fall/early winter, but this did not work out due to the delay in the l-129F petition approval. Hence, I am restating my original intent in this letter as my goal for us as a couple has not changed and neither have my feelings for Anna as my future wife." I pretty much stated when we were engaged, when we hoped to marry per our intent for the I-129F and what our plans are now. well now as in during that interview process. I took out full names for privacy reasons but kept first name as we have that in our profile. This is basically what they are looking for. *NOTE* that I stated how the delay affected us without being too specific. I know that did not sway their opinion much as for Ukraine, it was more about my tax documents and whatnot. But still, it felt great to express this.
  7. Wife's EAD and AP were approved on 28 OCT. We put in an expedite request for EAD due to the fact that we brought her elderly father over on U4U and used the fact that she wanted to contribute to supporting him. Also, we did not plan on full time supporting him when we submitted the paperwork. They got back to us 2 weeks later with the approval. The only approval pending now is the I-485. Good luck to everyone!
  8. They escaped ukraine. I flew with my father in law from Romania. Houston IAH just wanted to see his proof of authorization and his documents (we brought 2 cats also but they weren't as important). Since I was there, I provided my drivers license for proof of address. It is pretty much the same process as traveling to ukraine pre war during covid where you had to prove your address (when you quarantined if needed before test results). You brought your reason of travel (verbal authorization), where you were going to stay and your ID information. The difference is the U4U person needs their paper authorization(I chose to print it out) instead of verbal authorization. I guess because of my father in laws age, they did not take him to the room like some people said they did for U4U. I will caution that they forgot to stamp his passport for entry and when we went through charities to see if he qualified for any benefits, they required this proof. We spent maybe 20 minutes in line at an office outside of the airport to prove and get it stamped. A little more information than you asked for but it will work. If border asks about why they were in Canada, be truthful. But I doubt they will ask in that sense. Added on... Just show them everything and let them question if they want to. Otherwise provide the information and let them stamp and move ya all through.
  9. Update! Son's EAD was approved and a week later we received the card. It is valid 09/20. The bad news is his name is flipped so we put in a request to have it corrected. Wife is still waiting on her EAD/greencard/AP (one of those 3 to change status). We might see about trying to expedite as others did. Would not hurt at least. I am not expecting to see anything on the green card movement until closer to January or February. Best wishes to all though!
  10. I just saw this today but I know my stepson's RFE was because I did not provide proof of my citizenship. At the time, I did not have a copy of my birth certificate so I sent my passport scans. They were lost in the shuffle, so I sent them again. Now, I have birth certificates for the future. But it is probably something like that. Going through the first part with the I-129F, you remember seeing others stress over an RFE that they definitely sent the correct document but USCIS "never received it." You've got this! Just stay positive on it or at least neutral because you are providing information to them again to justify your package.
  11. Good evening all, I wanted to give you all something to remember or maybe practice if you have not completed this yet. I came back on here to check a consulate review and I came upon my now wife's review (with my translation) of her interview at the embassy. I was over the moon as much as a man can be for his fiancee. Something I remember also doing during the I-129F process was going over the letters each of us wrote about how we met each other. It probably meant nothing to USCIS, but it meant a lot to us. I would read both of those letters when I felt like all was lost and they reminded me of what I was patiently waiting for. Even now, I remember how when times are stressful as we all adjust to our life together, it is still the end goal of us being together as a family. So maybe write a letter to your fiancee/fiance about how you met them and the feelings you felt. Men, you will have heart in your sentences but they will be very logical, romantic but logical. Women, the men will read your letter and go "wow, I did not think of all of this." It is just a great reminder. Don't lose hope! Protip: Put this file on your desktop and name it something that will catch your eye when you have one of those rough hours/days/weeks so you can read over it.
  12. Updating. Wife and child had their biometric appointments today and status changed (30 minutes afterwards) to Actively reviewing. Not saying it is any speed setup but that is still better than what the 129F would say with "case was received." The officer told my wife that the child's first/last name were switched. We both overlooked it on both the NOA-1 and Bio appt notices. We called USCIS a little bit ago and they put in a request to update it. I tried before the call to do it online but it did not like the form type vs the case number. Either way, we were told it would either be corrected immediately on all documents or the Adjudication of the officer will correct.
