AOS interview in Santa Ana, CA yesterday

My wife had her AOS interview in Santa Ana, CA yesterday. All went well. We were done in 10 minutes.

The interviewer started by asking us both for our IDs and my wife’s passport. He checked to see our addresses match and asked my wife if the address on the I-485 is current. As he flipped through the file he asked for a copy of the marriage certificate. He said for some reason he doesn’t have it in the file and that he doesn’t need to see the original. As he checked some things and made some notes in the file he jokingly asked my wife if she is happy here and if I treat her well. She asked my wife if she has ever been arrested. The answer was no and he said, ‘good, keep it that way’.

At this point he removed the I-94 from her passport and stapled it to the front page in the file. Then he said asked to see some proof of your life together. I gave him bills from three different utility companies with both our names on it, joint bank statements from three different banks and copy of our health insurance cards from my work. I had a lot more including a lot of pictures to show him but he stopped me and said he has enough. He didn’t take the EAD back, didn’t ask for letter of employment or pay stubs or a new I-864 or tax returns etc.

Then he said I am approving your case and went over the procedure for removal of conditions in two years. He joked with me by saying if I don’t take care of it (removing of conditions) they will have to take her away from me. We thanked him and he walked us towards an exit and we were back in the lobby 10 minutes after we were called in.
