Santa Ana interview.

Well, this went much better than we could have dared hope for.

We set off at 7.00 for the 8.00 interview, however, we got stuck in rush hour traffic and got slightly lost looking for the right building at the civic centre so we rushed into the building a good 30 minutes late.

We went upstairs to the second floor, signed in and took seats to wait. around 3/4 of an hour later, the interviewer came to the door and called my name. She told me that we would have to wait another hour because we were late.

Waited some more and she appeared again and took us to her office. We took the oath (tell the truth blah blah blah) and she asked me some standard questions about where I was living, who my parents were. She then asked a couple of questions about how my husband and I met, how often I had visited him and what kind of wedding we had had.

She then looked at my sons file. There was one anxious moment when she asked if we had a filed a sererate 1-130 for my son, but she went off to see her supervisor and came back all smiles and said, well, I am pleased to say you are both approved and handed us our welcome to the US letters.

She told us to expect the actual Green cards in the mail within the next 3 weeks.

So, that's it, we're through for now. Next stop 3 years hence for me to apply for citizenship and 5 years hence for my son. (I didn't know that K4's had to wait longer to apply for citizenship, or it could be due to his age as he is currently only 7.)

As for evidence of living together, we gave her proof of our joint bank account, our joint lease, and proof of the medical insurance that my son and I recieve from my husbands work.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Oh, one last thing re medical/inoculations.

I was handed a copy inoculation sheet for myself and my son at LAX when we arrived in Feb. The one for my son was technically incomplete as he had to have the second and third shots for the hep b vaccination after the Birmingham medical. I submitted proof that he had had these shots, one letter from my Dr in England, and one from the Dr in the US where he had his final shot. These were not copied onto a form and endorsed by a surgeon general, just popped in with the other form when I sent the package in.

I was not asked for any further proof that he had had his shots. I was a bit surprised, but of course relieved that I didn't have to spend any more money or waste any more time on this paperwork, yipeee!

:), thanks.

I guess you are lucky too then, because it certainly doesn't seem as though they are trying to give people a hard time through the Santa Ana office.

Yea, I think Santa Ana is a pretty good office. Claudeth really had a very easy time when she applied for her EAD, she had to go to the office at 17th and Main and they were very nice to her. She never gets nervous about stuff while I am always hanging from the ceilings :D
