K1 expired but we're married!

Hi everyone,

Me and my hubby got married a week ago, finally, and its just great!

Wanted to get some more info on this though, we havent filed for our AOS yet, and my K1 expired last wednesday 19th of July. So, we got married before the K1 expired, which from what I understand is crucial to the process, but we havent filed AOS before that date. Does anyone of you know if this will f... up our process anything, a little or totally? My husband is very sick and we have medical papers to show this, in addition I am waiting for my birth certificate and my vaccination form. Im estimating to have filed my AOS in the middle of next week, and that would be two weeks delay from the 19th of July. Anyone, is this gonna screw us up at the interview now? Thanks alot! Vic.

Hilarious... Would you please post the definition of it when you find out, it might help us becoming better humans... Oh, by the way, sometimes serious illness slips in the way, even of marriage and holy visa processes. God forbid!

Actually I believe it is crucial that you married within 90 days of entering the US, or before your I-94 expired. The K1 visa is good for six months, so it could easily expire after your 90 days are up. For instance my husband got his K1 visa in December and entered the US during the same month. His I-94 expired in March, and that was the deadline for us to marry. The K1 didn't expire until June.

So hopefully you married before your I-94 expired! Good luck with AOS. We didn't send our paperwork in until five months after our wedding, and so far so good.

yes we got married within those 90 days, its just filing the papers that will be about two weeks late. I guess we were freakin ut a little since we have gotten this far in the process and got all our stuff together for our new life so... But that sounds great then! Have a good day! Vic.

Clarification:

The K1 must be used to enter the US within 6 months of issuance.

Once the beneficiary enters the US, the marriage must take place within 90 days of entry.
