I am the USC. And yes, I find I use certain slang wayyy too much. It's something that I've been working on for a while, in fact because obviously no one in my area knows what I'm talking about. It's not that I'm 'mimicking' anything or putting on airs...in fact, when living over there, I fought having any local slang creep in, because I find it to be disingenuous and pretentious (much like Madonna all of a sudden having an accent!)..But, after the first year, it just happened.

Do you have any other concerns about what I do irl? If so, I'm all ears!

You're a riot, Lisa. You seem incapable of engaging in a discussion without using ad hominem attacks. Arguing isn't about winning or proving someone wrong....at least that's not why I do it.

Having these discussions, IMO, is engaging when we're all able to express our thought and opinions out in the open, to listen to other points of view, possibly seeing an issue differently than our original view. I don't buy into the outrage brigade mentality of, 'let's find an incident that we can all get outraged over.' That seems to be all that some people here look for. It's the Jerry Springer, talk show approach to issues. All surface and little or no substance.

No it doesn't seem to be where you're concerned.

First, it was 'there's not enough info to make a fair opinion'. I disagreed with that, because even if the kids were reacting in some sort of self-defense...to me, it's 'jump off the bus, yell to the driver to call the cops, call the cops yourself (if any of them had a cell which is probably likely).

Then you went about trying to discredit the victim, even though she is 'innocent til proven guilty'. You ignored pertinent facts on a site that you freely quoted...only to quote things about the victim's past in efforts to discredit her, or at the very least, shed doubt to her character (which to me is irrelevant here)

Then when shown the facts that the cops are now considering it a hate crime, that there were 4 ppl somehow attacked, that at the time of the arrest, NO ONE made any claims about a knife or spitting or anything, now you change course once again with this 'innocent until proven guilty...thank God you're not jurors' thing.

And NOW, that I've pointed out your hypocrisy by not applying that theory to ALL of your opinions...you're making this personal by telling me I'm making it personal and now waxing lyrical about how difficult it is to have a decent conversation with me, and by lecturing me about the correct protocol for discussing views here on VJ.

Before you run to Calcutta with this 'it's the Jerry Springer' nonsense..are you prepared to at least comment on the new facts that have surface (up there in red) and how that affects or doesn't affect your original stance of 'I need more info before I can form an opinion'??? Or is it more of the old dodge and weave?
