Hi

Can someone please tell me what the standard length of stay in the US a tourist visa is good for ? I read a lot about the Port of Entry and some sites say from 90 days. Others say 6 months. I am a little confused.

Is there a standard time that you are permitted to stay?

90 days for Visa Waiver Program, 6 months for Canadians, and normal visitors visas can be issued with validity up to 1 year.

This is the situation: He was approved for a single entry. I just don't know what the usual length of stay the officer at the POE is authorized to approve.

I am not from the VWP and I am not from Canada. I thought it was automatically at least 90 days.

Hi please refer to the date stamped on the disemberkation card attached to the passport. The length of stay varies, with a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 180 days.

So many people have told me that it is from 90 gays to 180 days, but I have read that it could be 30 days. I need at least 60 days I have evidence to prove the event that we will be attending so I don't think it will be a problem.

The disembarkation card that is attached to the passport is given to us at the port of entry, Right?

here is what i found on dept of state web site about travel to us

If you are an alien, the CBP Officer must determine why you are coming to the United States, what documents you may require, if you have those documents, and how long you should be allowed to initially stay in the United States. These determinations usually take less than one minute to make. If you are allowed to proceed, the officer will stamp your passport and customs declaration form and issue a completed Form I-94 to you. A completed form I-94 will show what immigration classification you were given and how long you are allowed to stay.

its the form they usually hand out on the plane to fill up and which we show the CBP officer at the POE together with our passport. vbtbmrt is right, its officially called the I-94.
