How & who is going to tranlate all the forms for interview?

Hi hi!! everybody.

I have some questions about Tranlation.

My fiance and I are not sure if we have to ask a professional pple to translate our forms for interview.

Can we just ask some pple around us who is NOT professional?

Also, how's the interview in U.S?

I know after I moved to U.S, we have to take other interview for greencard..(In the future!)

Does it require a professional translation in U.S??

If so, It might be better to ask a professional ..since we need to ask in the future anyways.. :unsure:

Does anybody know??

yea they are always looking for professional, if you provide your own they will reschedual you for another time and look for a pro translater.

January 27, 2009--Green card approved without interview. It took almost one year though.

Feb 2 -------------Got the green card in the mail

Next: playing the waiting game for the 2 years holding removal

Things such as birth certificates, marriage certificates and police reports need to be translated according to the specific expectation of the Consulate. For instance, for China, it is only accepted if done by the official local Notarial office. You need a japan specific answer. If your evidence of communication etc. are in Japanese, that's fine. Only specific official documents need translation.

For the AOS interview in the USA, there are no new or additional documents to translate. If the immigrant is not fluent in English, it is your responsibility to provide a translator. Family members are not generally allowed but a daughter translated for one of my wife's Chinese friends. We'll take a friend along to translate.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

In Japan, you are required to have a professional translate your documents. Having friends or you yourself translating is not acceptable. It will state in packet 3 that you receive from the embassy which documents pertaining to your file will need to be translated. Good luck.

K-1 Timeline:

May 31, 2007 - Mailed I-129F to Nebraska

Oct. 22, 2007 - NOA2 Hard Copy received!! No email/website update.

Nov. 16, 2007 - Paperwork found & received by NVC!

Jan. 7, 2008 - Finally got the interview date

Jan. 28, 2008 - Interview!! Approved!!!

Feb. 12, 2008 - Arrives in USA!!!

Feb. 18, 2008 - Wedding Day!!!!!!

In Japan, you are required to have a professional translate your documents. Having friends or you yourself translating is not acceptable. It will state in packet 3 that you receive from the embassy which documents pertaining to your file will need to be translated. Good luck.

I had a friend (non-professional) translate the documents for the initial application, then had the translations notarized at the consular. That seemed to have worked out just fine. From what I read, it said anyone could do the translations so long as it wasn't yourself.

Haven't gotten packet 3 yet, but I was planning on doing the same thing in the future...
