You identify touches by checking the "last updated" column when logged in on the USCIS website, correct? I'm asking because I checked on my I-129F petition yesterday and it said last updated 11/25 (a Sunday) and then again today and it said 11/26. Am I just looking at updates of when I'm logging in or do they love working on my file?

It could be something as simple as your file being moved from one desk to another. Some people get several touches in a matter of a few days. Sometimes that means an approval is on the way, sometimes it means absolutely nothing.

I'd imagine touches are a positive thing and sometimes can be frustrating when you see a lot of touches and then nothing happens.

Good luck!

since you just submitted your petition, your touches are for NOA1 notice being printed and the second one is probably for it being mailed out. most of us got a touch or two when first recieved. then you sit and wait for 4 months or so hoping for the next touch. the system updates at 2am in the morning so you would have a sunday touch when its really a saturday working and it updated on sunday.

Yeah, I just did that. It says "Received and Pending" just like it's said for the past 4 months.

Does the "touched" status appear when you check the case status by typing in the receipt number?

Sorry, it's just that I've never seen "touched" on my status anywhere and I can't find that "Last Update" column the OP is talking about.

The idea of "touches" is not something USCIS tracks, it actually means nothing to them, so you will not see the word "touched" anywhere on the screen when you check on your status.

When you login in to your case portfolio (which is not what you are looking at when you are at the "case received and pending" screen, btw), look at the "last updated" date. if it changes, it means you have been "touched".

Edited to add -- you need to set up a case portfolio to get the columns we are talking about. :)

Sorry, it's just that I've never seen "touched" on my status anywhere :-(

this is the exact link : https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/logoff.do

Case Status Portfolio with Updates via Email

USCIS Customers (single applicant) and Representatives (representing many cases, such as lawyers, charitable groups, or corporations) who require regular access to status information about multiple cases can create an account to more conveniently access this information. The services provided are identical, except Representatives may also enter their own internal office tracking number with each receipt number.

In addition, you can choose to receive automatic case status updates, which will be sent via email.

* Create/Edit customer portfolio account

* Create/Edit representative portfolio account

* Login to an existing account.

It actually doesn't say "touched" but if you check your status regularly, you will notice that the "last date updated" changes.

Just create your own portfolio.

Good luck

No problem :)

Psst, let me tell you a little secret.....don't worry about being touched or not being touched, most of the time it doesn't mean anything! Many people here on VJ never get "touched" at all and get through the process just fine. :)
