We did the same thing and didn't write the case number. I don't know, the only thing they might do is simply send it back to you since they won't be able to endorse it because of the different department name. You could call the NVC and ask this question to the "Operator". Gud luck!

Making it out to "National Visa Center" is sort of like writing "Hartford Connecticut Federal Building" on your check.

They won't be able to do anything with the payment ... since they're Department of State.

Sadly, you'll probably need to get a refund for the MO - and make a new one. :(

The moral of my story: Stick with someone who matches your own culture.

( This coming from an Arab who married an Arab from overseas... go figure. )

Not writing the case number on the money order would be ok, but writing it to national visa center might not be okay. Call and talk with an NVC operator. Good luck.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
