Jewish pogroms are a part of history of most Europe. Russia less so than say Ukraine or Poland. Russians defended Jewish population during WWII and often with their own lives. There were pretty many Jews among high ranking communists... So, at least as far as modern history goes, Russians did all right on that one. Black man unable to ride a bus with his wife = not true in Moscow. May be in small towns, I don't know. I am sure that Moscow police is far likelier to go after someone with olive skin, than after a black guy (as likely to go after a black guy as after a white guy). And you know why? Because Russia is in a permanent state of war with Chechnia, and so it deals with terrorism on a far closer basis than say the US.

Please don't make it as if dislike and suspicion about certain ethnic groups in Russia depends on color of someone's skin. It is not so. You've seen Spanish or French being abused for their skin color in Russia? No? I wonder why...

hmmmmm.....it has been a long standing part of their history jewish pogroms etc..there is was a show on russian tv..where a black man married to a russian woman..has to ride different bus and not talk on the street..without getting beat....

and what is the russian word for a black person?

are you for real?

omg that's disgusting

and what is the russian word for a black person?

Черный человек.

"Negr" is the Russian word for a black person. I don't know if it carries the same

negative connotations as the word "n*gger" does in English, but that's the word they use.

You'll never hear anyone say "черный человек". "Черный", maybe (meaning "black".)

I don't know about the Russians that live in Russia, but my Byelorussian grandparents, mom, and aunts living in the USA refered to Black people as "chorna" when they spoke among themselves. I'm not fluent in Russian / Byelorussian, but I always took it to mean the same as when English speakers refer to Black people as "Blacks" or "a Black".

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
