I94 arrival/departure record

I was just looking at my passport where they stapled my I94 and stamped it and noticed that I only have a departure record not an arrival record. It is stamped saying I was admitted and the date. Were they supposed to attach the arrival record also? I saw a sample online of what the arrival record looks like (much more personal information than the departure record) and I know it's not attached in my passport.

There is no such thing as a departure record, they will not stamp your passport when you leave the US. You should have a stamp on your passport with the date and your POE, and attached your I-94 form.

There is no such thing as a departure record, they will not stamp your passport when you leave the US. You should have a stamp on your passport with the date and your POE, and attached your I-94 form.

It says "departure number" in the top left corner of the I94. I was just wondering if anyone else has the same paper stapled to their passport book. I'm only questioning this because I saw a sample I94 online and part of it looks different from what I have. Just trying to make sure I have all the proper documentation. Thanks for input.

Actually there is a departure record, it's just not a stamp -- it's the I-94 in your passport. They're supposed to take it out of your passport when you leave. Then it's sent to the authorities as proof of your departure. They also take it out of your passport when you get your green card.

The arrival record is what you hand over to the immigration officer when you arrive in the US. It's the large part you filled out yourself on the plane. They keep it for their records as well, so you won't find it in your passport.

Thank you for much for the explanation. It makes sense now because I didn't enter by air, I came by land so I didn't have to fill out the arrival part. They just stapled the departure part in my passport. Thanks again for the help.

It's all ONE form... they keep half and give you the other end which is your I-94. They stamp your passport and the I-94 - that's all.
