I did a k-1 right after 9-11 and it took 18 months.... be happy

while it is a relief to know it was just rumors, I am still wondering what is taking them so long? It's been 4 months since I submit the application, but still have not received my NOA2. Has anyone else any better luck?

I don't think comparisons are very helpful, actually (other than with those who filed right around us); if we're supposed to 'be happy' because others are worse off, then we can ALL be happy that we're not living without clean water, like almost half the world's population, or displaced by war, or whatever... of course a bit pf perspective won't do anyone any harm, but the OP was simply checking if her experience was normal, not having a whinge

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

need to clarify a few things so people will be satisfied.

The source of this rumor. My girlfriend went to a different forum just like this one and met another women whose US-based fiance works for some law firm that mainly handles immigration for nurses. Because of this, I thought this rumor might have some truth into it and posted to get a confirmation. Didn't mean to scare anyone at all, and I sincerely apologize if it caused any panic. Quite frankly, I was a little worried too when I first heard it.

BTW, I am a dude.

** edited: I guess the word "ursa" gave the wrong impression... so I switched to another word meaning bear: kuma... but for crying out loud, is there a word meaning bear but does not end with an "a"??????

totally baseless. Laguna Niguel is no where near the fires. when you see Mission Viejo and Aliso Viejo going up in flames then start to get worried. The small field offices that were moved in San diego dont have anything to do with K visas etc.

I think: Baseless Rumor.

If you check the VJ K-1 July filers forum, or check the VJ statistics, you will see that those who filed in early July at the CSC are now beginning to receive their NOA2.

I am fairly good at 'rooting out' facts on the internet. The following is the only reference I found for USCIS, fire, and California.

For Customers Affected by Southern California Fires

Updated Oct. 24 - San Diego area offices (San Diego and Chula Vista field offices and San Marcos Application Support Center) are closed today. Two Naturalization ceremonies in the San Diego area, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 24, have been postponed. These are the ceremony at Golden Hall in San Diego and the ceremony at the Chula Vista Service Center in Chula Vista.

Los Angeles area offices are operating normally at this time.

October 22, 2007 - USCIS Field Offices in the Los Angeles, CA area (Los Angeles field office, San Bernardino field office and Santa Ana field office) and San Diego, CA (San Diego field office and Chula Vista field office) will automatically reschedule applicants who missed naturalization (N-400) or adjustment of status (I-485) interviews due to the massive Southern California fires.

Anyone who misses an INFOPASS appointment should/may reschedule the appointment on their own, or the customer may go to the office where the appointment was originally scheduled, with the appointment notice.

It is unknown how long this procedure will be in place, but this alert will be updated daily until the situation changes.
