Have "they" ever denied a request to pick a Visa up the next day?? We applied for the Cr-1 and most likely, I would be flying out of Seattle to Montreal ( as it is the cheaper way at the moment) We would have no issues staying a couple extra days if it meant I could get my Visa the next day....Any info on this???

And yes I am jumping the gun as I have not yet got a date!! lol

The routine has been to return the visa/passport via the Expresspost envelope. It seems that only in the past few months has there been the option to return the next day to pick it up. Totally at the discretion of the Consulate, no guarantees.

Perhaps Shiri and Shaesta will let us know what their experience was this week.

This is right- I remember reading that some folks asked to pick it up the next day and were told no- they had to wait for the mail. The official position of the consulate is that you can only pick it up in the case of an "emergency"-- I don't exactly know what an emergency would entail, though. Anyways, doesn't hurt to ask, but I wouldn't make plans around being able to pick it up.

I hope we hear some good news re: interview dates for those waiting soon!

Hey, I am writing a quick note. We had our interview today. Everything went well, but they said that we were insufficient with our sponsorship stuff. I had a joint sponsor and they are requiring a I864A, so I am hoping that is for my mom because I don`t have anyone that lives with me. I am asking my mom to fill it out because she was on my father`s taxes. It is weird they say he doesn`t have enough income because he alone without my mom makes more than 25% above poverty level... so anyways... we have to send it in and then they will send it to us via mail and they said to expect 4 weeks for us to get it. *sigh* another hurdle and I am not sure I understand it completely. My husband doesn`t have internet at his house, so... I probably will not be able to view the responses to this until I get back from Canada. Good luck to everyone who has their interview.

Is it just a I-864A they want? Can you not have your mom download it to save time? You might be able to assist if there are any internet cafes near your husband's place. If not, I doubt it will take that long in the mail - they always say that but it shoudl end up being les stiem than that anyhow! Good luck with that and I am sorry to hear they are making you do extra - at least you are closer to an end to all this!! Please let us know how it goes!

Hey Shiri,

I'm so sorry to hear about your delay.

That is what I worry about the most right now since my Interview has been scheduled.

I was hoping you could share more about your experience.

Did you originally have a joint sponsor? Or do they want you to go out and get one?

Do you work or did you work only have the year (2008)?

That's what our issue is. My husband only worked half of last year because we were out of the country traveling, so we are concerned that they will want us to get a joint sponsor.

We are bringing a letter from his employer, all his tax forms and pay stubs to show he is now in a good job and is able to support me. We just hope they don't cause a fuss over his half-year unemployment.

Thanks much!

Martine

For those still waiting- tonight the NVC told me no more new scheduling until April. Who knows if that's true.

I'll tell you one thing that is true: I am sick of waiting. phht.

Shiri- Sorry to hear about your hiccup. That really stinks, to be so close and get another delay. I hope it works out for you soon.7

Shaesta- best of luck to you in MTL. I hope it works out for you!

I know this delay is disappointing. I am surprised that this was not noted sooner by the NVC. Hope it gets resolved quickly.

All Done! I will be picking up my passport on Monday!!!

The interview was simple. Lasted less than 5 minuts. The officer confirmed the info and spellings on my apps, took my medical envelop and 2 pics. After 5 minutes I was asked for finger prints and about 30 mins later I was asked to take an oath. The lady asked me a couple of questions and then sd all was in order and I could pick up the visa on Monday if I stay back or or she could corrier it. I opted to pick up the visa :)

I just got back from shopping at St catherines and will also see Qubec city!!! yeay!!!

Shiri... I'm sure u'll get ur visa soon too. All the best to u and the others who are waiting for their interview.

If you are still waiting for completion at NVC you might want to prepare yourself for a late May but probably June interview in Montreal. We were completed Feb 13 and are still waiting.
