I sort of want to kick that laughing pup right now. It's like it's mocking us!!!!

I kid. I KID!!!!!! I would never, ever in a billion years do that.

Hey Trail... question for you, i was reading on another thread that they base your interview on your 'priority date' and NOT your date of completion at the NVC. IS this true, do you think?

I'd thought that for regular CR1/IR1s that the priority date really had no bearing?

Just a question for you.

ANd again, totally kidding about the puppy...

So you sayyyy! <hides laughing pup>

Well - I actually put that question to Montreal back in August:

Hello,

I'm wondering if you can explain to me what date, or dates, are used in scheduling interviews for IR1 visas at the Montreal Consulate.

On our I-797 Notice of Action, there is a priority date. There is, of course a date that we finished with the National Visa center.

Does the priority date on the I-797 affect how soon we will get an interview, or is it based solely on the date our file completed at NVC?

Their reply was:

Montreal, IV to me

No it does not. Appointments are scheduled once the file is complete (receipt of the DS-230 and document checklist) then it goes in queue and a date is assigned based on when the file was complete. Then it also depends on the volume of cases to schedule and the applicant’s place in queue.

Regards,

I called NVC yesterday to confirm that my case had been complete. He told me that it was complete and I just have to wait for my interview date. He said they were scheduling a bunch of interviews in January. I know that I am not going to get an interview in January since I just recently completed, BUT I thought those of you who've been waiting for months (i.e. Igg) would like to know! Fingers crossed!

Hey, thanks BLitz... hope it's true, eh?

Good on you for giving us the heads' up.

:)

@trailmix

Thanks TM, I was pretty certain that I'd read/seen that before but I just wanted a refresher. Thanks for your patience.

Boo consular waiting, yay turkey! Yeah I'm one of those who likes the canned cranberry jelly stuff and not the actual berries. I was hoping I would be eating on that, but nooooo they requested more info haha I still can't understand why considering the NVC gets everything together for them.

Hey, I should send em a big ol' turkey at the consulate with a note saying thank you and have our case number listed in it haha and if they won't go faster, how bout we give them the pecan pie with a computerized burqa covering it that we only give the password to obtain its pumpkin-like goodness if they approve our visas or the pie will disintegrate into 700 pieces (symbolizing how many people are waiting!) and then vanish never to be seen again.

I was thinking that they probably meant 700 people waiting for interviews in general, weather it be a CR-1, a K-1 or whatever. That would make a lot more sense, no? I think that if it included all "immigrant" visas (I say "immigrant" because a K-1 isn't technically an immigrant visa, but it is treated as such) 700 would probably be about right.

Don't ask me why I'm hanging out in the CR-1 thread... :P I've actually been looking every now and then, because I want to see you all get interviews here soon! I have my fingers crossed.

I also think that number could very well be for the year or whatnot.

Yeah, I'd venture to guess that number is either A.) for the year, or B.) for all family-based visas.

I could be wrong, of course, and clearly often am! :P

Well regardless what the numbers are (and I wouldn't be surprised by any of them being right :) ) my wife will be pleased there is at least a better than 1% chance of getting a January date. On a completely unrelated topic I finally received an e-mail response from Montreal over a month after asking the question. Even then it was a canned response. Hopefully we'll have some good news to share for when I head back up to Ottawa (for what seems the 50th time now) for Christmas.
