Honestly, if they don't speed up *significantly* soon, the backlog is just going to get so bad that it will be beyond ridiculous. It's ridiculous already.

Well, as of today, the "summer holidays" excuse is officially OVER.

We were all so happy when shewolf and mtlgato were scheduled last Wednesday Sept 1st for their interviews in Montreal for October 8. I thought for sure we would hear of more interviews this week after Labor Day . . . but nothing so far . . . so very disappointing. I hope we will hear something next week, I really hope so . . . there's still three more weeks left in October after Oct 8 . . . surely they can slot some interviews in there for us during that time. It's already over 16 weeks since our completion dates . . . mine, Canadiandggal, CAN2US, Craig-n-Jacquie, Musi . . . how much longer are we supposed to wait?

I am still waiting for that elusive NVC email to pop up in my Inbox :)

Well add us to this pitifully long waiting list!!!! I'm so tired of the waiting and checking my emails and looking to see if any of us have an interview date. I think waiting over a year for this is absolutely unacceptable. However there seems to be nothing we are able to do about it. Why have the fiance visa been processed faster? I hope everyone would be processed quickly but that hasn't been the case.

I also agree that calling NVC has not been helpful. They follow a script that has been written and practically read from it verbatim. I'm tired of having people ask me why we don't live together by now?

all the best to all of you waiting!!!

Jewel

Just called NVC and the operator said they are in the process of scheduling October interviews this week. He said that the scheduling could continue into early next week. I have my fingers crossed for all the May folks. Not feeling hopeful for my wife and I as we completed at NVC on June 4th. But who knows, maybe they will get a good bunch of them scheduled.

Would be nice if they could just get caught up in scheduling and give everybody a date who has been waiting. If we at least knew the date the waiting wouldn't be quite so bad. It's the not knowing. I'd be fine with a November date (I told myself this process would take a year and if it was finished sooner then that would be great) - just hope it's before the end of the year!

OMFG.

Are the K1 folks for Montreal seriously allowed to schedule their own interviews now?????!!!! Check out their thread.

I'm happy for them, and it does seem like the new system will be better but WHAT ABOUT US? Why are we totally screwed--yet again? Why are we in this black hole?

Where is it written that CR1/ IR1 is such a low-class visa that we get ignored and ignored and ignored while everyone else gets better treatment?

I would write more, but I'm having to type this lying down because I'm extremely pregnant and uncomfortable.

I know exactly what you mean MTLgato, I saw that yesterday and thought, "what the heck?" why can they get to schedule their own and not us? I too am happy for everyone getting interviews whether you are cr or k1 its nice to see movement. However where is our movement? why cant we schedule our own interviews as well? They seem to be updating stuff but why are we being left in the dark? I totally understand the comfortableness you are going through right now mtlgato, Plus if it is hot where you are it will just make it ten times worse. I hope that baby comes soon :P hang in there

Thanks! Fortunately, the weather here is perfect: not uncomfortable at all.

As for the scheduling issue...I'm actually on hold with DoS right now! I will ask them whether the changes might apply to us, and if not why not!

Ok, everyone: I just talked to very rude, not very helpful DoS operator...but she did make it sound like maybe/ probably the new self-serve scheduling IS going to apply to us!!!! If so, this is big news.

Here's the link to the new self-serve website:

http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_immigrant_visas

Check it out. Maybe call DoS yourselves? You might get a better operator than I did...

I really hope this is good news for us...

This may be too good to be true...BUT it SEEMS that I was able successfully to reschedule my appointment via this new self-service system.

You *do* need to have received P4 to be able to use the system. For those of you who are confused, there IS a P4 for CR1/IR1: it's the interview letter from NVC. In other words, my p4 was the letter that notified me of my ridiculous Oct. 8 date (ridiculous because I'm due to have the baby right around then).

So, those of you who haven't had a date scheduled, you prob won't be able to do anything YET. BUT...this is all probably good news for you, because: a) when you do get your P4, you'll be able to pick a date that actually works for you; and, b) I *suspect* that the changeover to this new system may have been responsible for the particularly bad delays recently. Your P4s may be coming really soon, and you'll get the new, improved version that hooks you up with the self-serve site, etc.

Btw, my husband works on computer systems kind of like this new self-serve site, and he says he thinks it's very likely that the transition to this new system was the reason for the extra suckitude with the Montreal scheduling of late...

I hope I'm right about all this...If so, you May-June people (at least) have good news coming...

PS. My new date is Oct. 28. That was the latest date I could get. It'll still be hard, but way more possible than Oct. 8!!!

MTLgato I'm so happy for you! I was really mad when I saw your posts earlier about Montreal consulate's inconsideration regarding your interview date.

So let's pray that the P4 will arrive very, very soon for the rest of us (May-June NVC complete)...

Reading these posts on Visajourney can make me really emotional sometimes. :(

mtlgato glad to hear you were able to reschedule to a more appropriate date! Finally some good news out of Montreal.

The consulate website seems to indicate the new scheduling is only for non-immigrant visas so it will be interesting to see how things work out for the long list of CR1/IR1 filers waiting.

I finally broke down and called nvc again. "kyle was polite" I asked if the October interviews were done being scheduled. He said he wasn't sure, could I hold on a moment and he would check. He came back and told me that october interviews are still being scheduled for the next few days! Well I kinda guessed that but you know I was really hoping he would say "oh look I see a date on your case file" but that didnt happen. I sorta wish they would tell the truth all the time though. sounds weird but I would rather have them say all the interviews are filled so i wont think about it till next month.
