Universal health care would take care of that little injustice.

The action you suggest would make the US criminal justice system on a par with say, the justice system in China. Is that your aim?

I said if I had to choose. In that situation, "honest, hardworking, law-abiding citizens" would win out every single time over criminal offenders. ;)

Disingenuous though, it suggests that anyone who favours treating prisoners with humanity some how doesn't care about these 'more deserving' recipients of health care (or whatever is being discussed). Universal health care illuminates the need to worry about prisoner's being cared for better than other citizens, but some people don't want that either, just in case someone 'undeserving' gets the benefit. Either you care for everyone equally including convicted felons, or you don't.

Before anyone jumps in with two and two make five, caring for felons in this instance means not denying health care because they can't afford to pay for it, not providing them with luxuries.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

At the time, Barnes' mother said her son had had depression for years. Barnes also has leukemia and is due for a bone marrow transplant soon.

Wonder what happens if he doesn't get the transplant

Personally, you may feel that way, but the US society does not. The US adheres to the human rights convention, which means prisoners get health care however 'scummy' and undeserving you might believe them to be.

I would imagine, in the case of him not getting the transplant, he'll die. Again, you may feel personally that that would be justice, however, you live in a society that does not feel that denying basic human rights, in this case health care, is ethically acceptable.
