If it was the child begging to keep the dog people wouldn't be so spiteful, this is simply 'cus a public person did it. I think she was being very sincere in her plea, and not expecting this sort of repercussion.

Not convinced that this is quite as innocent as it all looks (awaits a flaming) if someone in Ellen's position isn't aware that such a teary performance would not have repercussions then she's a helluva lot more gullible than I would ever give her credit for. This wasn't a subject that should have been aired in such a manner. ............. and now watching Greta van Sutchens show on Fox tonight there is the repeat AND a lawer and TMZ.xom witrh a video (if you lok at there website they have a host of em) according to the lawyer (for Mutts n mums) the "new" family refused to sign a contract for the dog ...............my feeling is the whole of BOTH sides of this story havent been aired though god forbid we actually hear it all but my overriding thought is why do we need a Patriot Bill if there is TMZ.com to eaves drop on every conversation?

I have to say that I didn't feel at all comfortable watching that clip...I think Ellen made huge mistake and I'm afraid I didn't feel sympathetic towards her at all.

What about the bad publicity this might actually cause the charity itself? maybe people will now avoid using that shelter or contributing to it...what about all the other dogs that may suffer by not getting re homed because of her outburst?

As someone in the public eye she does have a responsibilty to think first, and not try to use her 'celebrity' to appease her guilty feelings over this.

The matter should have been handled privately instead of her making a big scene on her show. In my opinion, it was to draw attention & sympathy. So, I guess the big crying/ drama thing was a success. She seemed to have garnered sympathy from fans, which is exactly what she was aiming for.

sister rose, i think you make an excellent point

 Enough said about that.

problem with being a public figure such as an actor or actress is that nobody ever believes you are capable of being genuine...everythings for the camera's. Actors and actresses are human too. :crying:

I don't think her sincerity or the genuineness of her anguish are in question. The issue is her (ab)use of her national talk show and millions of adoring fans to criticize a local pet adoption agency whose policies she disagrees with. The more I read about this, the more I think Ellen should be ashamed of herself. She seems like a smart, sensitive person, which is why I'm surprised she's stooped to this level. Did she think that her fans would send flowers to Mutts & Moms to gently persuade them to make an exception? I wouldn't be surprised if the place shut down because of all this.

As an aside, it's strange to think of Ellen fans as being the type to make death threats against a dog adoption agency owner, but I guess people do get irrational when heartbroken little girls and cute puppies are seen as being wronged by a faceless villain.

On our TV newscast last night it said that the reason why the doggie organization removed the dog from the hairdresser's home was that they had requested to see the family and the home etc to see that the dog was to be well cared for etc and the request was refused.
