Pepsi, Coke Rivalry Becomes Physical

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) — The long-standing rivalry between Coke and Pepsi took a physical turn Friday when a Pepsi deliveryman allegedly punched his Coke counterpart in the face at a western Pennsylvania Wal-Mart, state police said.

The two deliverymen were "apparently bickering back and forth" while unloading their wares at the Indiana County store, police said. When the Coke deliveryman left the store, his counterpart allegedly punched him in the face three times, breaking his nose and giving him a black eye, police said.

No charges have been filed, but police characterized the incident as a misdemeanor simple assault.

Coke made with real cane sugar will beat Pepsi hands down. There needs to be a rematch.

thats why I buy the "Mexican Coke" (coke in glass bottles sold in the 'hispanic' section of grocery stores).. cuz they use more sugar cane than ####### syrup from the american coke

And we read in the papers that employees don't care about the company they work for anymore.

Here's living proof that some people still take their jobs quite seriously. :jest:

If they'd bring back a cane sugar version of Coke, I think they would dominate the market for sure. My hunch is they will but the price of that Coke will be higher than the HFCS variety.

You can already get the cane sugar version in places that cater to the hispanic community. We are about the only place that sells the corn syrup #######...most other countries still use cane sugar. I can get the cane sugar version at the local Wal-mart, but I am also only 30 miles from the border.

You're in Tucson, yes? Yep, we're not too far either (maybe 70 miles). I hope Coke would consider marketing a cane sugar verson and sell it as an alternative. Actually, if we'd just do away with the corn subsidies, cane sugar could regain its market share as a sweetener.

Yep Tucson...and yes, they changed over because corn syrup was cheaper than cane sugar. I think if they would have stayed with sugar, people would have paid the extra for the better taste.

Amen to that. Funny thing though is they switched to HFCS and denied to the consumers that it tastes any different.

I can't even remember the last time I had a regular soda!

Same here. I usually drink seltzer water. Can't stand all that sugary stuff. Well, maybe a tonic water from time to time.

I usually drink water - up to a gallon a day. And 2 pots of coffee a day

I quite like tonic as well....so long as it has gin in it

I love diet sodas, but I hear they're soooo sooo soo bad for you...so thanks to my new 'good health' campaign, I'm trying to severely limit my consumption. Plus, it's the strangest thing..anytime I have a diet soda...my face puffs up like I've gained 5 pounds. My friends/fam can look at my face and be all 'you drank soda today didn't you?'

saying that, I had a ginormous Diet Dr Pepper today  and it was goooooooooooooooooood.

just go to any hispanic section in any grocery store, specially walmart, or go to any 'carniceria mexicana' or 'tienda mexicana' and you will find the sugar cane coke, sold in glass containers.. but you need a bottle opener! lol..

I've seen "Mexican Coca-Cola" at Central Market before, but I never purchased it. I was usually too distracted by everything else. Well, that and they always have tons of free samples. I love that. :P

I was going to originally write "Mexican Coke" but I knew someone would misinterpret that. Probably on purpose too.
