I honestly don't know where the whole "being a bachelor and playing the field is the best time in a man's life" idea came about. I really don't. Maybe a bunch of guys who had trouble getting into relationships and/or getting laid created it and then it eventually spread it into subculture.

Whatever the case... for me, it's most definitely not true. Sure, there's something initially exciting about a new person, but none of that comes even close to comparing to what I've got now. So no, I don't "yearn" for a woman in my past at all.

Actually the first girl I was ever truly in love with was the one who did the dumping and I was definitely in a funk for quite some time and was depressed.

I didn't yearn for her, but I did yearn for the good times, having a constant companion, and the good things of being in a relationship.

However I knew it was over and I did keep my self respect and avoided her. She's contacted me a few times over the years to meet up, go out for a meal, catch up, etc., but I've brushed her off every single time.

It's way back then that I started setting some personal guidelines regarding relationships, how to handle certain situations, what I can put up with and what are deal breakers, etc.
