Airline Transit through Taipei, possible overnight

I am traveling to the Philippines for Christmas, and then Annie is returning to the USA with me.

Our tickets take us into Taipei on Cebu Pacific Airlines the afternoon before our flight to the USA leaves on United Airlines.

Does anyone know what the rules or regulations are for a Filipina traveling through Taipei? I'm not sure if we are going to have to stay in the airport overnight, or whether we can leave for a Hotel for overnight.

hi! first, congrats on your visa approval!

well, i have some taiwanese friends living in taipei and last july, i planned to visit them. but then, i found it difficult to visit them since Taiwan requires a visa for Filipinos living there. so, i thought on postponing my visit there since I still need to do some paperworks to get a visa to enter taiwan. the visa costs around P2000.

so, if you plan to go out in the airport, you will be needing a visa for that.

congrats on your journey. you can check eva air if they have cheaper rates if you can still cancel your flight with united airlines.

Visa not required if:

-continuing to a third country by same/connecting aircraft on the same day; and

-holding confirmed onward ticket and all documents for next destination; and

-not leaving the transit lounge (if arriving after midnight carrier must escort passenger to transit hotel. Transit hotel is only available for Eva Airways (BR) and China Airlines (CI) passengers. If passenger wants to stay in transit lounge permission from police bureau must be obtained, which must be arranged by carrier); and

-the station manager of the receiving carrier is advised of passenger's name, connecting flight and destination prior to arrival.

TWOV will not be granted for connections less than 60 minutes.
