Hi everyone! Both of my parents are applying for the N-400s under the general rule (I, US citizen, was their petitioner). They've been LPR for 9 years.

They got married in their home country and can't find their marriage certificate, will it be required in the application? We've got tax transcripts (but from what I've read they don't even need to submit that).

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, they need proof of marital status. I uploaded mine with application. If you don't upload it you may get RFE.

In instructions it says applicants MUST provide it.

So technically, you can apply now if you have digital copy of certificate, and order certified copied for later. You may or may not be asked for original during N-400 interview. I was never asked for original. But you never know. Also, certified copy may be useful / needed for many more things other than immigration.
