Hi,

My fiancée is a K-1 applicant in Manila. She already finished her medical and VAC biometrics, but we just noticed her DS-160 has an error.

In the “Passport Country/Authority Issued” field, she put United Arab Emirates. Her passport is actually a Philippine passport issued at the Philippine Consulate in Dubai. All other details (number, name, dates, etc.) are correct.

Should we:

  1. Leave it as is and explain at the interview, or
  2. Submit a new DS-160 with the correct info and bring both confirmation pages?

Will the Embassy be able to use the new DS-160 at the interview even though VAC was already done with the old one?

Thanks for your help

The DS-160 for the interview has to be the one that was used for the VAC appointment and that was associated with the interview confirmation. I would not have her do another one or they may not allow her into the interview. At this point I would have her just explain to the Consular Officer at the interview the mistake and let them handle it how they want to.

Proactive correction during the interview always should work.

This is my opinion only... I do not think it will be an issue as long as she informs the Consular Officer about the mistake / misunderstanding the question as soon as she's sworn in for the interview. We had a minor issue on Jaycel's DS-160 and she mentioned it to the officer after he swore her in and he corrected it and thanked her for telling him right away.

She forgot to include the student organization she was a member of in college on the question "Have you belonged to, contributed to, or worked for any professional, social or charitable organization?"

So she mentioned the error & they were ok with it ?

just hoping the “passport issuing authority” isn’t too much trouble

as long as she brings it up and has them correct it

Yes... She mentioned it as soon as she got sworn in and the CO thanked her for correcting the mistake and he approved her 3 minutes later

I can only tell you what Jaycel did to address her issue.... The first window is just for collecting documents, etc and we figured that the best way to approach it was to tell the Consular Officer who would be actually looking at her DS-160
