Medical Exam for K1 Adjustment Status

Hi everyone,

My wife needs to adjust her K1 visa status using the I-485 form. It seems like there are some differing opinions on whether there is a need to medical exam or not. I got the following tip from this site:

"You do NOT usually need another medical exam after entry on the K-1 visa, in spite of what the directions

with the forms may tell you! Ignore the instructions regarding a medical exam after entry on a K-1 fiance

visa unless your local USCIS office advises you otherwise."

So, it seems like a medical exam is not necessary.

However, what about vaccination supplement? Does my wife need this in order to adjust her status?

If yes, where does she get this? Does she need to get some medical recoreds from her mother country? I am confused and would really appreciate your help!

Thanks!

Another medical exam is not required as long as it has not been more than 1 year since the K-1 medical exam.

You will need the Vaccination Supplement (Form I693A) prepared by a civil surgeon in the U.S. If you have a copy of the Vaccination Worksheet (from the K-1 medical exam), you can take that to a civil surgeon and they will transfer the information from the worksheet onto the Supplement. We were charged $35.00 for this service. We had to call around to several civil surgeons to get the best price, as their prices varied significantly.

Good luck.

make sure you call around and get a civil surgeon that doesn't charge an arm and leg.....the first one I dealt with was a royal pain and was ready to charge me about 225.00 for the vaccination supplement. I found a different one here (in the middle of nowhere) that only charged 68.00/person (there are 3 of us).

Good luck!!
