I recently created an AVITS account for my mother's IR-5 visa interview. After selecting the delivery method, I see a 'Pending Appointment Request' status. When I try to book an appointment, the system shows 'Currently, there are no appointments available for the selected location.'

Could someone clarify: Should I keep checking the system for available appointments, or will NVC schedule the appointment and notify me

If it's an immigrant visa, she doesn't schedule her own, she has to wait for NVC to do it and notify her. If she's been DQ'ed then she's at Step 9 (bottom of the page) of the usual website - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-8-scan-collected-documents/step-9-upload-and-submit-scanned-documents.html

Thanks for sharing.  I already uploaded all the documents and got DQ. They sent me an email requesting for me to create an account on AVITs

AVITS is now a thing in some consulates even for immigrant visas. Accra Consulate recently started asking immigrant visa applicants to create AVITS accounts to confirm their interview appointment after NVC has scheduled them. In case of Accra, NVC schedules the interview first before the consulate ask people to confirm their appointment in AVITS.  @Free ManHas NVC already scheduled the interview? Or did you request expedite for your case?

Yes, create an account but they didn’t ask you to schedule an appointment?

Which consulate?
