Hi all, I'm just trying to get some clarification regarding this matter.

My wife got her CFO Guidance and Counseling Certificate way back in 2018 without a VISA (I can't remember exactly why we did it). Anyways there is no expiration on the certificate.

Just a few days ago my wife was approved her IR-1 VISA and we are both wondering how to handle her CFO.

1). Is her current paper CFO Certificate considered valid still? I saw something about digital certification now.

2). Is it correct that she still needs a CFO sticker for her VISA?

3). Are there any other requirements that I'm forgetting?

Thank you so much!

She's supposed to amend it if it was previously for another reason.  They used to be able to do that online but now it apparently takes an in person visit.  The paper certificates don't expire but I'd hate to have too argue that point with BI right before a flight.  All newly issued e-certificates are digital only.  They eliminated the paper stickers and in fact BI often specifically request to see the CFO e-mail in people's phone.

This is what the BI officer asked of Jaycel when she left the Philippines on her K-1 last August. He wanted to see the email on her phone and opened the attachment with the certificate right from there. They do offer printing service at the CFO office so you can print it but that’s pointless because the BI officer refused it when Jaycel tried to give it to him

Hey thank you for the detailed answer. It doesn't really have a reason on my wife's certificate, only the country United States of America.

Also I went to the link you provided and it's true there is no Online Registration, you just have to show up in-person, no appointment? Does that sound right?

Specifically it looks like we sort of fit the amendment category, but we don't necessary meet the stated criteria for getting an amendment. I'll paste below the reasons they say we are eligible for an amendment, which are either a change in civil status or an erroneous entry of which we have neither. We simply need the e-certificate/digital version.

"Amendment of Counseling Certificate

Filipino spouses, fiancé(e)s and other partners of foreign nationals or former Filipino citizens may request for subsequent amendment of the CFO guidance and counseling certificate when there is a change in their civil status or an erroneous entry in the certificate."

Am I missing something? Thank you!

Thank you for the clarification on that. I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade my wife's old CFO cert to the new digital version now.
