We went today and it seems to be rectified.  I had the thought as we were driving away that he didn't verify that they actually updated his citizenship status with them, the original purpose of the visit last week.  The woman he dealt with last week got his name wrong, said she didnt' have any extra characters to work with and got his address wrong until he corrected her.  Unfortunately I didn't think to ask if the status was updated correctly - is there a way to verify online with SSA that its updated?

Hopefully, you are sorted.

Yes, there is a way to check it. Essentially, if you can initiate replacing SS card online from their website, it would allow only if you are registered as a citizen with SSA. You don't have to complete the request, just initiate to see if error comes up. It is normal to see error for few days or weeks, until they update status on their end.

Thanks, appreciate it - though now that i'm thinking about it, when he talked to them today they didnt ask for any proof of citizenship (he brought it just in case) which would make me think that it had gone though.  We will check online though - thanks again.
