Hello everything, im trying to get a feel for when I might hear something about my N-400 application, I filled March 23rd 2025, attended bio appointment April 14th and since then haven’t heard anything. My estimated time on the USCIS website went down to 0 over a month ago and still nothing. Looking on here it seems like lots of people who filled at the same time have already completed the process…..any advice welcome.

My advice is to ignore MyProgress estimates. It's never accurate. On day of my oath, it showed 3 weeks until decision.

Do you have I-751 pending?

Hello, thank you for the reply. No I do not have a pending I-751. I applied under the 3 year rule.

About 30 days into the 90day early filing window.

There may be an issue with marital union requirement. So it looks like you weren't living in the US together with your spouse for 3+ years at the time of filing? It may or may not work, depending on officer. I assume (maybe I'm wrong) you were briefly in different countries during CR-1 process in the last 3 years from time of filing N-400? So please come back to us with update after the interview. Situations like this require a little more knowledge / understanding from adjudicator which can explain some slower than others timeline.

At time of filing that is correct in a sense as we didn’t both live in the US at the same time for 3 years prior. We had been living together in England for the 2 years prior to that. So yeah I get what you are saying, it’s interesting based on what your saying is it even possible to have been living together for 3 year in the US after CR-1 is approved and file under the 90 day early filing window. wish I had just not used the early filing window and waited till the full three years was complete.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask  those who have had recent interviews , were there  already questions about community service. I understand that effective Aug 15, 2025, the officers may ask questions about community service  of the N400 applicant.  Apparently one of the new rules.  Maybe Old User can enlighten us on this, as he may have come across recent interview experiences narrating community service questions  with the later filing groups. Many thanks in advance for your replies.

Not sure about community service. In my understanding, community service is typically punishment for offence. Do you mean evidence of Good Moral Character in form of volunteering? I didn't see people reporting it was necessary or asked.

Yes, that's what I meant. Thank you for the correction. I know the lengthier questions will be applied to those filing on or after Oct 20, 2025. Not sure about the Good Moral Character in form of volunteering.  I was reading from an immigration lawyer's website the ff:

  • Emphasis on Positive Attributes:
    • Factors such as sustained community involvement, family responsibility, educational achievements, stable employment, lawful residence, and financial responsibility (including tax compliance) will be weighed favorably.

It was talking about  how USCIS would send its agents to interview neighbors about the applicant. They would want to know if the applicant was volunteering for community service.  I was confused if this was already being implemented. With all the valued help you are giving in all the forums, maybe you had come across any reports of these new rules. Good to hear that's not yet the case.

It looks like I’ll be having a follow-up interview. The supervisor informed my attorney that they’re preparing to schedule it. I had a feeling they should have canceled my first interview and waited for the missing A-file.

I also received a response to my own inquiry, but my attorney said it was just a generic reply, so I’m focusing on what she received from the supervisor instead.

I’m patiently waiting for the second interview to be scheduled. I’ve read that they might want to redo the civics test as well! That would be overwhelming, but I’ll prepare for it.

Does anyone know if the new test will consist of 100 or 120 questions?

ROC VSC mailed 5/7/14

NOA1 5/9

Check cashed 5/14

Biometrics current

RFE dated 12/18

RFE mailed 1/20

Approved 2/2 ! ( letter came from the local office)

Card received 2/17/15 !!!!

I think whether it's 100 or 120 is the least of concerns. It should be 100, rules at time of application for N-400 should be used. They'll ask you civics again, 99% guarantee.

I'd be more focused about immigration history etc. There's something USCIS isn't happy about, probably divorce and legitimacy of marriage if you had one before (sorry, don't remember your history). Or criminal charges (if you had any issues in the past). Or asylum if you claimed. Or prior overstay. Or combination of these.

What does lawyer say about all this? They surely know more about your case.

It doesn't make any sense another interview if you passed. It was their mistake missing your file 😭. So frustrating

None of this came up in mine at the end of September.

As it stands I completed my oath ceremony on Tuesday (was quick and efficient, probably about 100 folks there taking the oath that day). Got my Naturalization Certificate and immediately went to the DOL (our DMV) to get an enhanced drivers license and went online and renewed my Nexus with citizenship info since I was inside the 1 year window. Going to get my passport tomorrow, and at some point will go to Social Security office once I have my passport and the shutdown is over. It’s done!!
