Any questions on 'good moral character'?
Also, do we have to memorize some aspects from the N400 application? For example, dates on which we were out of the country etc.

I traveled just a couple of times, so it was easy for me to remember, but I see no reason not to write it down if you travel more.

ROC VSC mailed 5/7/14

NOA1 5/9

Check cashed 5/14

Biometrics current

RFE dated 12/18

RFE mailed 1/20

Approved 2/2 ! ( letter came from the local office)

Card received 2/17/15 !!!!

So now I’ve finally settled down and have time to write more.

My appointment was at 0715. I arrived at the FO around 0700, and check-in took about 6–7 minutes. Then the waiting began. After what seemed like forever, my number was called (around 08:00). The officer was very professional and courteous. After we exchanged pleasantries, he showed me to his office and pointed to the chair where I was going to sit. We immediately started with the civics questions:

  • What was the war between the North and the South?

  • How many amendments are in the Constitution?

  • Who did America fight during World War II?

  • Who was the president during the Great Depression and World War II?

  • What are the two major political parties in the United States?

  • What is the capital of your state?

  • Who was George Washington?

For reading, he directed me to read the sentence: Who was George Washington?

For writing, I wrote: Washington was the first president.

We went over the application with the usual question about name, date of birth, current address, and employment. Then we moved on to the eligibility questions. Most of my answers were No, but some had to be changed to Yes due to my employment in law enforcement. Several years ago, I was also detained/cited for traffic-related issues; he asked for explanations and the outcomes of those incidents (fines were paid).

After a lot of typing, he gave me the printout and said he would recommend me for approval. He also notified me that the next oath ceremony would be in 30 minutes.

Everything took exactly two hours from checking in, to taking the oath, to walking out of the building with my certificate in hand.

About travel, he only asked for confirmation of my last trip (he already had the dates) and whether I had ever been out of the country for more than six months. About GMC: he asked about my tickets and whether I owed any taxes.

Oh ok. My case is different because I was told I'm approved and was given the form that states I'm recommended for approval. He also said I would be getting the letter of oath within a week. So I think I have a case my with representative.

My fiance also passed her test and was told she'd be getting the letter for the oath ceremony "next week". That was 4 weeks ago and nothing yet. That's for the El Paso FO as it might differ for each field office.

Verbal promises mean nothing, sadly... Hope you hear the news soon!

Had the interview today and I am approved!

My FO doesn't offer the same day oath, so I will need to wait to hear from them.

The officer told me that I would receive a letter in 2 weeks, we will see.

The interview itself was so quick and the officer even said that this one would be quick like 20 mins. He was very nice and friendly.

I don't even remember 6 civics test he asked... it was that quick.

I didn't even need to present the appointment letter or GC to the officer (I did at the check in window).

He basically read my personal information from the application to confirm if it is still correct. All I said was yes.

The part 9 questions, he went through quick too. I don't think he read each question.

My USCIS status is now "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled"

I will see how soon it will be scheduled!

The oath ceremony is scheduled on Thursday 9/25!!

I didn't expect it to be this quick, so I am surprised, but very happy about it. I am almost completed with the process.

USCIS will consider your request to review if your don't hear from them for 90 days according to the online chat I had with them.

Update: I asked the Senator to contact USCIS on my behalf. My attorney also submitted an inquiry directly to the field office supervisor, and I was able to submit a request myself after chatting with Emma—the live agent directed me to do so since my case is now outside normal processing times (90+ days). Let’s see who responds first—if anyone responds at all. This is ridiculous nonetheless.

USCIS has 120 days, not 90 days to decide on your case after interview.

After this, you can sue (file Mandamus). That is the only reliable option. Your other efforts may or may not work (depends on luck)

Today marks the culmination of my journey, I received both my passport book and card. Tomorrow, I’ll be using the card to cross into Canada, and next week the book gets its first stamp (if they still stamp passports) in Europe.

Congratulations to all the newly sworn in citizens! And to those still waiting for your interview or naturalization ceremony.... hang in there, you’re almost at the finish line.

I really appreciate all the advice and encouragement along the way. Couldn’t have done it without this community. I am forever grateful.
