I just collected today's mail. The interview is scheduled for 6/10 !! I know the person who filled in September and interviewed in February. I never expected mine to be so quickly!  We both live in the same state, the same office.

Congratulations and good luck at the interview! You filled on 3/3 but when did you file it? 3 or 5 year rule?

5 years. I had GC for much longer ( you can see my old timeline for my GC in my signature ).

My estimated timeline was 8+ months when I submitted my application online on 3/3.

I'm in shock, I thought I had more time. Spring and Summer are the busiest times at my job and I'm going on the cruise on the 18th ... it's a bit crazy

So I had my interview yesterday, an early appointment...  Here's an outline of events...

Arrived at around 7:20 and found people milling outside the front door.  Thought the office wasn't open yet due to the early morning timing.  But it's already open.  Showed security the letter before allowed to go through.  Wife was not allowed to come in.

Went through an initial desk where they scanned the barcode on the letter multiple times (why she had to do it like 6 times, I don't know).  Took my picture and fingerprints.  Told to go upstairs to wait until my name is called.

When I first got upstairs, there were about 40 people.  Despite people constantly being called in, it eventually got to nearly 100.  Some people were called in and came back out even after I arrived.  Staff said there was another person in front of me and that took longer than expected.  I guess each officer was assigned a bunch of cases each day and it's luck of the draw or was assigned by the initial person I saw.

Anyway, finally got called after about an hour.  Took the oath to tell the truth.  Showed my GC and confirmed name and address.  Civic test next...  I was asked the following (not in the same order):

- Name of the national anthem

- How many senators are there?

- How many reps in the House?

- Ocean on the east coast

- The first 3 words of the Constitution

- When do we celebrate Independence Day?

But I got them all.  Told to read a basic sentence out of an iPad, then write a sentence 'We pay taxes'.

Then he asked a bunch of questions that were on the application, mostly yes/no questions.  Apparently, there were about 3 questions that my answers didn't match the application.  He asked me to confirm and sign that he'd update the application to my new answers.

Then he clicked on his mouse a few more times, tapped on his keyboard...  Chitchatted a bit...  Then he printed out a letter saying I'm recommended for approval and head back downstairs for a new picture (not sure why, they already did it once today, but I got to bypass biometrics during the application process and my GC picture is 10 years old).  I asked about timeframe, and he said maybe around 30 days...  He congratulated me and walked me out.

Had a new picture taken, told not to smile on it...

Out the building after a little less than 2 hours.  The interview took about 20 minutes.  Prepared a few more printouts of evidence, didn't even touch them during the interview.

The system hasn't updated yet though...  Is that normal?

Everything seems normal.

Good luck!

3/23: Filed online

4/09: Interview scheduled for 5/21

4/16: Called USCIS to reschedule interview we will be out of the country until mid June. I waited a week before calling because I wanted to avoid having the new interview date be only a few days after the original date as we would still be out of the country. I understood this was a gamble and I was risking getting buried in the queues.

4/16: Immediately received a notice that my original interview date has been canceled. I was aware of this verbiage so I didn’t freak out.

5/13: Received new interview date (took longer than expected). The new date is 6/18, which is perfectly what I was hoping for :)

Field office: Seattle
