Good morning! Thanks for the coffee Carla!

Krikit's facebook page says she is in Canada.

Hi guys. Yes, I'm in Canada again. Here for my Uncle's funeral. My sister from England flew in to Orlando and we drove up last week. Strangely enough, this has been the best visit ever. Lots of laughs, lots of love, lots of tears. I honestly don't want to leave, but I must. My sister is staying an extra week in Florida, so that will be nice. Trying not to think of the goodbyes. :(

Good morning everyone!

Krikit, I'm so sorry you're in Canada for that reason. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. (F) Nice that your sister is going to come down for a visit for a week as well. Please take care.

I've heard from my daughter a few times since she left for Europe. She's been to Munich, Vienna, and she's in Prague right now. She's enjoying all the good food and beer, however she mentioned that BK and McD's sucks. I emailed her and gave her ####### about eating stuff like that when she has such wonderful alternatives, and she wrote that if she doesn't eat it over there, she'll never know if it's as good as it is back home! :hehe: Kids!

Enjoy your day everyone!

(F) for you Krikit.. I hope that time slows down the last week you have with your sister.. and that you can soak up every minute with her.

Carla, your daughter is a RIOT!! :) That's hilarious.. you can't come back after a comment like that! :)

Ugh.. I'm up early.. time change messed me up.. up at 7am now, instead of 7:30am.. I like that extra 1/2 hr of sleep! :crying:

Oh.. and in other news.. i had an email from my Japanese friend.. she is trying to "will' herself to be happy.. she sounds miserable, and admitted such to me "I THINK i rushed the wedding/marriage". :wow: you don't say...

I think it's so sad that someone that's been married a month is WILLING themselves to be happy honestly. :bonk:

How tragic! My heart is breaking. I truly hope she puts her all into trying to make this work. Well, I hope he does as well.

Krikit-Sending love your way. Sorry for your loss and I hope you can manage some laughs and smiles with your sister.

Carla-haha Believe me, McDonalds in Europe IS awful. Of course she has to try it!

Good Morning every one. I am excited to go to Vegas tomorrow night, but less excited to see that it is a 6 hour flight? That is what it says on my flight itinerary. If it is 6 hours shouldn't they give us a meal on the plane? I want a meal!!!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Well, speak of the devil...

My daughter just called collect from Prague in the Czech Republic in tears. Both she and her boyfriend, who have small credit limits on their Visa's, got Euro's for their trip, and their banks suggested they take pre-paid credit cards to up their allowance for their travel. My daughter's Visa CC is being used for "holds" on hotels, so that money is pretty much "used" and not available. They each had at the start of their trip approximately $3000.00 on their pre-paid cards. Well, they went to use them today, and were told that they've been cancelled. :o

My daughter is freaking. They're in their hotel now, having just gotten to Prague from Vienna, and so wanted to call to find out what's up with the pre-paid cards. They apparently can't call international except to the US with 1-800 numbers. They tried the 1-800 number on the back of their cards, but it goes to the US (ATT) and they won't, or can't transfer to their affiliate in Canada. They have no cash on hand right now for a day or so, and are worried of course about eating, transportation etc.

I have email transfer through my RBC and sent her some money. It takes about an hour for the email transfer to go through. I told my daughter to get a phone card somewhere, and make sure you can call to Canada on it. Then call and find out what's going on. Poor kids! :(

Their only 11 days into their trip and have another 9 days to go, so their a little worried. Scared in fact. Kiera said...Mom you have no idea, we're trying to communicate as best we can, and basically they could care less what predicament we're in.

It'll be a long day for me today, worried. I'm going to try and call her at the hotel in Prague at 10 am our time.

What a day.

Question:

Why do airlines (ex. AA just sent a mass email with weekend specials) put Canadian cities on their domestic flights page and other countries are on their international page?

As far as customs and our venerable USCIS is concerned we are still a foreign country.

Being labeled an "alien" (such an antiquated term, grrr) does not feel domestic, nor welcoming.

Thanks airlines for making us feel welcome. :D

Wow Carla!! I'm sure everything will work out for them but how frustrating! I would love to know which pre-paid service they used.
