Hello everyone!

I received my US citizenship last year in September. I filed for my mom’s I-130 on Jan 5,2024.

Can someone educate me on the entire process? I’ve been doing a lot of reading and I’m still confused.

so from this point, I’m assuming we wait.

Then, either it’s approved or denied. If it’s approved, then we schedule for my mom’s interview? She is currently in the Philippines so assuming that’s through US Embassy in Manila.

When scheduling the interview, does my mom request the interview? I.e select the time and date? Or does the embassy determine the time and date? We’re trying to time the interview to our Philippines trip, so that we can be there for her. And can I be there during her interview?

What are other things that we should prepare for? Is the affidavit of support required then? Or when does fit in all of this?

Also - I don’t have any estimated time yet, per online status? What’s your experience been? How many months did it take for approval?

sorry for the 104985859 questions 😊

thank you for info in advanced!

USCIS online estimates are very unreliable. It takes on average 12-14 months for petition approval

When you do, ignore it completely - notoriously unreliable! Figure about 18-24 months for the whole process if Manila doesn’t have a big interview backlog.

Good luck.
