Hi everyone! Quick question as I'm filling out form I-765:

In part 2, question 18a/18b, it says,

"List all countries where you are currently a citizen or national."

I put New Zealand in the first box since I was born there etc. But I also have an expired British passport that I got when I was a baby, since my Mum was born in Scotland. Should I also put the United Kingdom as a place that I am a citizen/national?

Yes, of course. It asks for all countries you're a citizen of, it doesn't matter if your passport has expired.

No worries. Basically forget the passport thing - just as being born in a country doesn't mean you're automatically a citizen of it, not having a passport of a country doesn't mean you're not a citizen either. So just put down any citizenships you have. Good luck.

Yes, if you're a UK citizen. Remember, having passport is not a requirement for being a citizen. Many American citizens never had a US passport.

I guess I just don't 100% understand it. I've had the passport for my whole life but that's the extent of my 'uk citizenship' - idk if there's some grey area where I could have the passport and technically not be a citizen? Idk haha.

What does the passport say in "Nationality"?

Does jt say "British Citizen"?

If yes, you're not any different to Brits who never went outside of the UK.
