Cutie, while mere words cannot take away the pain that you must be feeling, know that you are right. We are your extended family and will grieve along with you in the hopes that we can somehow lighten your load. I don't know your own spirituality, but I believe that there is something better after this existence and that right now, your son, is truly enjoying a better world.

Wow. :o

And here I thought I was going through a tough time, with my workload (practically ready to have a nervous breakdown and all), but that's still NOTHING compared to the loss of a child!

I'm very sorry to hear about this. While I've never lost a son or a daughter (I don't have children at this point in my life), I did lose my mother a little over two years ago at the age of 52 on May 14, 2005. It was cancer, so it wasn't an accident, but she lasted about six months from the time of diagnosis to death, so it was still relatively abrupt and unexpected.

I understand that the comparison isn't exactly "valid" since my mother was older (although 52 isn't exactly THAT OLD, these days), had lived more life and had children, among other possible things as well. However, I wasn't trying to "one up" you or say that "I've experienced worse." All I was attempting to do was convey my deepest sympathies by expressing that I UNDERSTAND the nature of loss. Maybe not the EXACT SAME type of loss, but loss nonetheless. (F)

Anyway... I'm running at the mouth (or the keyboard, as it were), which is something I'm apt to do. I'll stop now, before I end up turning this post into a novella.

Your story brought me to tears. I know there are no words and no one can possibly understand your ache unless they have gone through it. I can only guess at how hard this can be. Cory was beautiful, his website was a wonderful memorial and you are a strong woman for having gone through this. I thank your husband for caring for you in this time of need because momma's have to be okay too. I hope time eases your ache soon and where time cannot, I hope that your happiness with those who are in your life does.

May your immigration at least flow with ease. *hugs*

It is during times like these, when life is the worst you could ever imagine it becoming, when the reality of human kindness and true compassion becomes undeniably apparent. The generosity of heart you have all shown us leaves me without words to fully express my gratitude and amazement.

For me, the future holds a lot of unknowns. The sky will never be as blue and no sound will ever be sweet enough to equal that of my beautiful sons voice but my heart will know that there is real love and kindness in this world...........each of you has proven that. You display the true meaning of the term "family".

I keep thinking that this is some horrific nightmare like in "It's a Wonderful Life" and if I could only learn what I'm supposed to learn from this I could go back and my precious boy would be standing in the kitchen drinking his beloved " Arnold Palmer " ( half iced tea half lemonade).

Thank you all for the kind words, prayers, condolences, support, tears and for taking a few moments to "meet" my son. It will never be forgotten.

I was at a loss for what to say, Cutie, beyond you have my most heartfelt condolences and to thank you for sharing your son's memorial page. Even though I didn't know what to say (I still don't) I did look at it right away. Take care of yourself, you are a wonderfully sweet woman and I can't imagine what this must be like. I just wanted to let you know I've been thinking about you and your son since you posted this thread. *hugs*

When I read your post, I couldn't help but cry, understanding the pain of loosing someone you love. I know the pain is different for everyone. I lost my beloved father 2 months ago and I see how different my mother is handling the loss of her soul-mate, other half. I saw how one of my supervisors handled loosing her 21 yr old son also in a tragic accident last year...how my husband still cries when remembering the good times with his parents (they passed away 9 years ago) We will always be tenderhearted when thinking/remembering those that we've lost. This poem below is a touching way to express how we feel about 'being with them again' someday. (don't know the author)

Two years since you left us. (insert your own loved-one's time)

How can that be?

Time has no relevance for me.

You've not embarked on a journey meant only for you.

The doorway to a new and foreign life, we each must

pass through.

A path we all must take.

Hopefully, aware, all that

matters is at stake.

Since Heaven has become your home,

Part of me was left alone.

While for a moment we are apart.

You hold a tender piece of my heart.

I never knew how much I'd grieve when

it was time for you to leave, or just

how much my heart would ache from that

one fragment you would take.

God lets this tender hole remain

reminding me we'll meet again, and

one day all the pain will cease

when He restores this missing piece.

He'll turn to joy my every tear, and

as I hold your memories near, it will

be my simple way to treasure our reunion day.

I never have to say "good-bye" my precious...

"I'll see you in a little while"

Griffy
